For more than 100 years, the American Lung Association has fought some of our country's greatest health threats. In 1904, the fight was with tuberculosis, but over the years our focus expanded to prevent or cure all lung diseases, eliminate tobacco smoking through tobacco control advocacy, and address environmental health issues. In expanding our role in fighting lung disease, the Lung Association was the first health organization in California to become involved in the effort to keep California's air clean. Through community programs, medical research and advocacy efforts, the Lung Association is the leading private, not-for-profit health organization fighting lung disease in California.
Their mission is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education and advocacy.
