St. Joseph Center’s mission is to provide working poor families, as well as homeless men, women, and children of all ages with the inner resources and tools to become productive, stable and self-supporting members of the community. Founded in 1976 by two Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in a small storefront on Rose Avenue in Venice, St. Joseph Center (SJC) has grown to operate service centers in Venice, South LA, and Downtown Los Angeles, as well as program offices in Santa Monica, Palms, and Mar Vista. SJC is the Lead Agency for LA County’s Coordinated Entry System for homeless families in Service Planning Area (SPA) 5 on the Westside, and a partner agency for South LA and East LA.
