In 2024, 4KINSHIP's Diné Skate Garden Project hit an incredible milestone—distributing a record-breaking 5,000 skateboards and helmets to Diné youth during the Navajo Nation Fair Youth Days in Tuba City, Shiprock, and Window Rock. It was absolutely amazing to see so many kids experience the joy and freedom of skateboarding!

In 2025 Diné Skate Garden Project is gearing up to make a lasting impact on Navajo youth by distributing 2,000 skateboards and helmets across the Navajo Nation this September. This year’s initiative aims to continue fostering pride, freedom, and connection among Diné youth through the transformative power of skateboarding.

Overcoming Challenges to Empower Navajo Youth

Though 2024 comes with supply chain challenges, largely due to past tariffs that impacted production, the reduced tariffs have opened a critical 90-day window to ensure skateboards and helmets reach deserving kids just in time for this year's events. To provide the highest quality equipment, 4KINSHIP has partnered with Rolling Thunder Supply Co., an industry leader in skateboarding gear.

"Skateboarding doesn’t just change lives—it saves them," said Steve Douglas, skater and President of Rolling Thunder Supply Co. "For nearly 50 years, this so-called 'useless wooden toy' has given me everything—travel, lifelong friendships, and a sense of purpose. What 4KINSHIP is doing is incredible, and we all need to come together to help impact even more lives."

A Community Effort to Foster Growth and Connection

The Diné Skate Garden Project and 4KINSHIP see skateboarding as more than just a sport—it’s a medium for transformation. By providing equal access to skateboarding, this initiative promotes physical health, mental well-being, confidence, and a sense of community among Native youth.

"Distributing skateboards is about more than the boards—it’s about inspiring pride and building meaningful spaces for Native youth to embrace their culture and grow in confidence," said Micaela Ramirez, Founder of the Poseiden Foundation.

Amy Denet Deal, Founder of 4KINSHIP and the Diné Skate Garden Project, added, "Skateboarding is a transformative experience. We’re ready to make this vision a reality, but we need the support of our community to bring this impactful opportunity to life."

Support the Movement

To achieve this goal and provide Navajo youth with the tools to thrive in this exciting and empowering sport, 4KINSHIP has launched a community fundraiser. Donations will help cover the costs of skateboards, helmets, and logistics to ensure all equipment reaches the kids in time.
