Keep Youth In Arts Alive

Art Saves Lives

Founded in 1996, Preventive Care Pathways, a community based charity organization provides health care services through its legacy namesake, The James A. Watson Wellness Center.  The non-profit charity foundation, Preventive Care Pathways, also provides educational outreach to underserved, marginalized communities throughout the Bay Area. Our goal is to decrease the disparities in health care services, education and mortality outcomes among those most marginalized, underserved and compromised through culturally sensitive care and education.  We seek to "start at the beginning," with the Youth of our community and "Keep Youth Alive" and firmly believe that "Art Saves Lives".  The primary function of Preventive Care Pathways in serving the community is to bring together the resources that are most beneficial to our youth followed by incorporating Youth and their needs within the community of Adults in business and medicine, and especially in science, technology, reading, engineering, arts and mathematics or, in short, "S.T.R.E.A.M." "Remember, your health is your wealth and if  you knew better you would do better! (c)". So we move to bring all of the educational instruments to our Youth and those who are there to support them, starting with our Youth in Arts Project.  We are continually realizing that the percentage of our "Youths Of Color" (YOC) in all art programs is marginalized, especially when it comes to quality arts education and training. We want to improve their odds and slow down the history stories about how our YOC find themselves "alone" on their journeys in the arts. This season (2021-2022) we will be working towards increasing quality education and training in the arts, specifically in the area of ballet & dance choreography as well as music arranging, composing and producing, where there are far too few YOC. We will move to increase the percentage of youth admission, retention, and fulfillment in quality arts programs leading to professional careers and so that each youth is not looked at as "the first" or "the one" or "the few" who succeed. Please give generously and give frequently and help us "Start at the Beginning" with our Youth In Arts Project.  Every gift helps. Thank you. (photo credit: Mkitaoka)
