John is one of the most incredible people on the earth. His smile has always brightened my day.
His wife and kids are also amazing and we love them dearly. Finding a cure for the dreadful disease should be a top priority for everyone. I'm honored to be a part of this fundraiser and wait expectantly for the day when ALS is eradicated.
Love you GARNER family! Thank you Mailey for organizing this awesome event!
This event will be held on Tuesday, April 7th at 6:00 PM at App State Baseball Stadium!!!
In June of last year, my dad was diagnosed with ALS, a terminal illness that has profoundly affected my family and I. Watching him face this battle has been incredibly difficult, and it has made me realize just how important awareness and research for ALS truly are. For my senior capstone project, my team and I have chosen to focus on raising awareness about ALS and supporting research that can make a difference in the lives of families like mine.
To bring our project to life, we are hosting a fun and meaningful fundraising event: a 3-legged race like no other! Teams will compete in the silliest, funniest outfits they can imagine—because laughter, creativity, and community bring us together to raise awareness for ALS. Each student team is asked to raise $100 to participate and each adult team is asked to raise $250 to participate. All proceeds go directly to The LVH ALS Foundation, supporting research and families affected by this disease.
As an extra incentive, the team that finishes in first place will receive $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice in their name, celebrating the spirit of giving while raising awareness. On the day of the event, attendees will also get to watch the short film, “Stitching Strength,” which highlights the courage and resilience of those facing ALS.
After the race, we will be heading to Ale House to celebrate the day and success, as well as listen to some awesome music by the Adam Church Band!
If you'd like to get involved, here’s how:
Every donation, every laugh, and every step forward brings hope—not just for my dad, but for countless others battling this terrible disease. Even if you don’t want to participate in the race or be on a team, you are more than welcome to donate. Your contribution truly makes a difference!! Any contribution helps support this cause and make a difference.Â
