Mission Statement

The Duke Ellington School of the Arts’ Artistry in Motion Film Festival celebrates the creativity, voice, and vision of emerging filmmakers while reflecting the school's artistic excellence and the cultural vibrancy of Washington, DC. Hosted by the Cinematic Arts and Media Production department, the festival provides high school filmmakers with a platform to showcase their work, engage with industry professionals, and explore the power of storytelling through film. Through screenings, workshops, and dialogue, the festival uplifts student artists and fosters a community dedicated to innovation, expression, and the future of cinema.

The Duke Ellington School of the Arts’ Artistry in Motion Film Festival (AIM)l is a cinematic showcase produced by the Cinematic Arts and Media Production (CAMP) Department. The festival celebrates emerging filmmakers from Duke Ellington, across the DC region, and nationwide, providing a professional platform for young artists to premiere original films, connect with industry professionals, and engage the community through storytelling.

Duke Ellington School of the Arts is one of the nation’s premier arts high schools, serving talented students from across Washington, DC. Through rigorous academic and pre-professional arts training, Ellington prepares young artists to lead in creative industries including film, theater, dance, music, and visual arts. Artistry in Motion Film Festival is produced by the Cinematic Arts and Media Production department of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Contributions are received as charitable gifts through [The Ellington Fund] and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
