Britta (Fjord Mare)

Welcome to the fundraiser page for "Britta" (25 Year Old Fjord Mare), a dedicated initiative aimed at supporting this beautiful mare in continuing to lead a supportive and healthy life. We invite you to join us in this heartfelt mission to ensure that "Britta" receives the care and love she deserves, all while benefiting the incredible nonprofit organization, Melody's Haven of Hope at Oregon Horsemanship.  

Her Story

For years one of our veterinarians looked for a Fjord for our program and finally the call came. "Britta" needed a new home as her owner could no longer ride. An older mare, the need for a new home, a place to find love, it was meant to be. "Britta" loves that she feels more connected now than she ever had before. That is what the herd finds with us. True love for them forever and "Britta" feels that! We are running blood work and have her on a low sugar diet since Fjord's can “live on air” so we can make sure if she has special needs that we monitor it sooner than later.

“You need a Fjord” one of our vets said.  Lo and behold one day the call came.  A trainer friend of hers had some older clients that wanted an older Fjord to have a good forever home.  Of course, we went to go meet her and it was love at first hug.  She came right up, stuck her head in my chest and I was lost.  She needed a good place to live her life.  We made the arrangements and "Britta" came home with us.

At Melody's Haven of Hope, we believe that every horse, regardless of age or background, deserves a forever home where they are cherished and appreciated.
