Canvas Institute Diamond Grant Fundraiser

About This Fundraiser

Canvas Institute is seeking to raise $50,000 to expand our Compassionate Systems and social-emotional learning (SEL) programs in NYC schools. These programs reach 250+ students every week across 10–15 schools, helping young people build resilience, practice conflict resolution, and strengthen their mental health. At a time when NYC youth and families are facing rising challenges with depression, anxiety, and school-based conflict, providing this support is critical to creating safer schools and stronger communities.

Beyond the classroom, we equip students with certifications and workforce skills that prepare them for real employment. Youth can earn CPR, Teen Mental Health, and Lifeguard certifications, and Canvas directly connects them to jobs. Historically, 60–75% of participating students have been gainfully employed through these pathways — building confidence, income, and independence while reinforcing their role as positive contributors to the community.

Your gift sustains these life-changing opportunities, ensuring students are not only supported emotionally but also empowered economically. Together, we can give young people the tools to thrive in school, in work, and in life.

This campaign is powered by the Diamond Matching Grant, a special initiative of the Staten Island Foundation. Through this partnership, every contribution is tripled. For example: if you donate $1,000, the Foundation will add $2,000 — providing Canvas with $3,000 to invest in youth. If we raise the full $50,000 by June 30, the Diamond program will match it with $100,000, unlocking a total of $150,000 for our students and community.
