From local rescues to global heroes — help us support them today!
Every day, animals go without care — from Texas and Oregon to Nicaragua and India. People and groups want to get involved, but they need guidance and support. Chappy & Friends provides that, helping grassroots projects get off the ground quickly. As a fiscal sponsor, we make it possible for rescues and advocates to accept tax-deductible donations and qualify for grants without having their own burdensome 501(c)(3), allowing them to focus on what matters most: saving lives.
This year has been an amazing period of growth for Chappy & Friends in terms of the breadth of our projects, their missions, and their locales. We are now GLOBAL and are currently working to bring on more international affiliates. Additionally, and importantly so, we now have under our wing: (1) a THINK TANK producing policy initiatives on enforcing already strong animal welfare laws in CA; (2) a new kitty arcade outside San Francisco to introduce patrons to cats waiting to be adopted; and (3) a project using Virtual Reality to develop EMPATHY in abusers of animals. These are but a few, among many, terrific innovative projects now under our wing.
We are particularly proud to have helped launch Panola County Dog Rescue, the ONLY rescue in that East Texas county. Founder Jorea Mcnamee was able to raise over $40,000 prior to getting her own 501(c)(3) because of Chappy & Friends. This ensured a new shelter, outbuildings, and everything else needed to get up and running as a full-service rescue and refuge.
We are also actively engaged in a NICARAGUAN project, Amigos de los Animalitos, who received a $12,000 foundation grant through us for their life saving and life enhancing activities. They are extremely busy providing spay/neuter clinics, vaccination and medical treatment clinics, TVT cancer treatment, and rescue and community outreach. These heroes are also beginning the process of doing fundraising for a SEA TURTLE project in their area.
The last bit of news, but not the least by far, is that we have begun the process of releasing CALLS for proposed projects in ACADEMIC JOURNALS. In a nod to the endlessly inspirational Dr. Jane Goodall, we are focusing primarily on attracting PRIMATOLOGISTS and those studying aquatic species. Again, an association with us allows newcomers to the grant game to use Chappy & Friends as their 501(c)(3) to receive foundation grants and to focus on what they do best: study their chosen animals, leaving the IRS work to us.
We have not done fundraising in a while simply because I have been too busy bringing in and activating new projects, but we sorely need your help to maintain our momentum. If you are thinking of gifting—major or small-- for the holidays, please consider Chappy & Friends as one of your recipients. We have a "reach” goal of $2000 by Christmas, but timely donations help in our planning for an even bigger '26. Please help in any way you are able.
