Welcome to the "READING INTERVENTION FUNDRAISER" page, where your support can make a transformative difference! This initiative is organized to champion the efforts of the Literacy and Hope Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to bringing hope and literacy to our community by sharing God’s love and equipping individuals to overcome their unique challenges.
Our mission is to improve the reading literacy and educational outcomes of African American students attending St. Louis City Public Schools and select county public schools. Alarmingly, there is a reading crisis affecting Black students in St. Louis City Public Schools, where only 17% are proficient in reading. The numbers are even more concerning in third grade, with just 14% of Black students meeting proficiency standards. This is critical as research indicates that students who are not proficient in reading by the 4th grade are at a significantly higher risk of not graduating from high school.
In response to this urgent need, Literacy and Hope Foundation provides FREE, weekly, individual reading intervention coaching to students in K-3rd grade, as well as older students whose reading proficiency is below basic for their grade level. This intervention is part of the standardized testing framework where there is above proficient, proficient, basic, and then below basic.
In 2024, Literacy and Hope Foundation successfully launched a program in two St. Louis City Public Schools' aftercare programs, extending our reach and impact. But we cannot do it alone. Your generous contributions will enable us to expand our reading intervention services, helping more students bridge the literacy gap and achieve educational success.
By donating to the "READING INTERVENTION FUNDRAISER," you are providing the tools necessary for our children to excel in their education and, ultimately, their lives. Together, we can give them the hope and literacy they deserve. Thank you for your support, generosity, and commitment to transforming the educational landscape for our future generations!
