Welcome to the fundraiser page for "Elena" (a Warlander), a dedicated initiative aimed at supporting this beautiful mare in continuing to lead a supportive and healthy life. We invite you to join us in this heartfelt mission to ensure that "Elena" receives the care and love she deserves, all while benefiting the incredible nonprofit organization, Melody's Haven of Hope at Oregon Horsemanship.  

An ad, a backyard in outer east county, a ride out to see her, and then back with the trailer. We were surprised to find such a unique breed in an unusual place and later we found that she had quite a questionable start to her life and lucky to land somewhere safe and consistent.  When she wouldn’t get in the trailer and four people were trying to force her I asked them to stop, walked up, and put a hand on her while she stood stock still and said quietly so no one else could hear “if you want to come home with us you need to get in the trailer now."  After that she walked right in and stood. What a great mind and a loving spirit. Our vet confirmed that she appeared to be sound and able to eventually be ridden.  We also realized that she pretty much said "I'm here now and not getting back in that trailer or leaving you!"  She loves greeting everyone who comes to the barn! We can't wait to see her reach her full potential. This next year holds a lot of potential for "Elena" and we will give her lots of attention and see what the next steps will be for her.
