Friendsgiving 2025: Welcoming 350 New Arrival Families

In January 2025, federal support for refugees and immigrants was slashed, including limits on asylum, to cuts in food and health benefits, to the end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for tens of thousands of people. These rollbacks aren’t abstract. They’ve forced resettlement agencies across the country to lay off staff, reduce programming, or even withdraw from resettlement work entirely, leaving new arrival families with less support than ever.

But amid this withdrawal, one truth remains: neighbors have always been the frontline of welcome. Volunteers, community groups, and organizations like Miry’s List carry the weight. And now, we must carry more.
