Hello, my name is Grace Bennett and I am an Ambassador Girl Scout, with GSHPA Council, working to achieve my Gold Award. The main focus of my Gold Award Project is installing a pollinator garden at Hillside Park which will promote environmental sustainability. My project will be complete with a pergola, an extension of the Memorial Reflection Pathway (which I did for my silver award), and selected flowers and plants to ensure pollination. There will be benches located under the pergola, situated to view the lake. I obtained these benches by collecting over 2,000 pounds of recycled plastic, the TREX Company then sent the benches since I reached the goal. This will benefit my community because many crucial pollinators are at risk. This project will allow a reinforcement for pollinator sustainability, but also provide a safe space where people can connect with nature outdoors.
