Carlos was a Venezuelan father of two who came to the United States hoping to find work and build a better future for his children. He was last known to be alive on August 30, 2022, in Piedras Negras, Mexico. Two days later, Border Patrol found the remains of an unidentified person near the riverbanks at the Orchard Pecan Farm in Maverick County, Texas. Carlos drowned, and his remains were initially buried as an unidentified person in Maverick County Cemetery.
His sister never stopped looking for him.
Through DNA, forensic evidence, photographs, and Carlos's distinctive tattoos, his identity was finally confirmed in 2026. Now, his siblings have one final wish: to bring their brother home to Venezuela and give him a final resting place with his family.
The funeral home has provided a cost of $4,900 for his cremation and the return of his ashes to Venezuela.
Carlos's family is already facing significant financial hardship, with limited resources to cover their basic needs. The recent earthquakes in Venezuela have created even more challenges for families across the country, making it even more difficult for Carlos's loved ones to afford the cost of bringing him home.
After years of uncertainty, Carlos's family finally has answers. Help us give them the chance to bring him home through our Volviendo a Casa Program.
Every donation, no matter the amount, brings Carlos one step closer to his family
