Veronica Malveaux Brown (Choe) Plaisance Scholarship Fund

The Plaisance Community Foundation of Houston, Texas (PCFOHT) was formed in 2014 by former Plaisance residents and graduates of the former Plaisance High School.  Our Foundation committee now reside in the Greater Houston, TX area.  Our mission is to provide advocacy, mentorship, and educational opportunities, through scholarships, to eligible deserving students seeking college or trade school higher education.

Since 2014 the Foundation has awarded approximately 20 scholarships, totaling around $10,000. Over the past 4 years our fundraising efforts were ceased due to Covid 19 outbreak.  

We are asking for supporters to please donate to our foundation in order that we can help support next year’s applicants. Your generous donations will assist eligible students accomplish their educational goals.

(PCFOHT would like to thank you all in advance for helping us to be a blessing to our very own Plaisance community future leaders.  We are honored to partner with Launch Point CDC, Inc., a dedicated social service referral organization, to support aspiring students through this scholarship fund.  If you would like a receipt for tax purpose, please provide your Name, email address and cell number when donating via Pledge and you will receive a donation receipt email.

Veronica Malveaux Brown, affectionately known as Choe, was an extraordinary individual whose academic achievements and personal dedication profoundly impacted her community and family. Veronica graduated as Valedictorian from Plaisance High School and as Salutatorian from Southern University, later pursuing a career as a distinguished Dietician. Her memory continues to inspire dedication to education and community service.

Veronica passed away on August 8, 2024, but her legacy endures through this scholarship fund. The fund aims to support students who exhibit a commitment to academic excellence and embody the family values that Veronica cherished. By contributing to this cause, you honor her memory and help nurture the next generation of leaders and professionals.
