On the 4th of July devastating flash floods in Central Texas resulted in destruction across the region and over 100 deaths, including 28 children and counselors from a single girls' summer camp. The Guadalupe river rose as much as 26 feet in certain areas in only a few hours overnight as residents slept. Flash flood emergency warnings were issued at around 4AM, and for many there was no time to react before violent floods reached their locations. Over 15 inches of rain fell in only a few hours, which was double the anticipated rainfall forecasted.
The weirdo swarm is coming together to support this area directly by focusing on The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.
The Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity serving the Texas Hill Country, and is dedicating efforts to supporting flood relief.
From their social media: "In response to the devastating July 4th flood, the Community Foundation has launched the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund to support local response, relief, and recovery efforts. All donations go directly to organizations working on the front lines of this emergency."
Funds distributed to vetted organizations providing rescue, relief, and recovery efforts as well as flood assistance will support the communities of Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort - which are areas heavily impacted by the devastating flooding.
The Community Foundation managed and distributed over $6.8 Million to 501c(3) nonprofits in 2024 and they are a valued community resource.
