Our Mission

Special Olympics Singapore is part of a global organization that serves athletes with intellectual disabilities working with hundreds of thousands of volunteers and coaches each year. Since the establishment of Special Olympics in 1968, the number of people with and without intellectual disabilities who are involved with the organization has been growing, but the unmet need to reach more people with intellectual disabilities is staggering. Special Olympics strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success.

Our Mission To promote and provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympics-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Our Objectives To organise sports training programmes and competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. To provide opportunities for Special Olympics athletes to participate in National, Regional and World Special Olympics Games. To promote integration amongst Special Olympics athletes and mainstream athletes through participation in unified team sports. To encourage family involvement and increase public awareness about individuals with intellectual disabilities.
