The Lantern is an independent registered charity which was established in 1983 to benefit vulnerable andmarginalized people in the Weymouth and Portland area. We aim to bring lasting change to people’s livesthrough the provision of a dedicated service meeting practical, emotional and personal unmet aftercareneeds. Our ethos is one of social inclusion and we aim to break the cycles of disadvantage and dependencythrough providing support which is tailored to individual need. We strive to work with people rather thanpurely for people, in order to equip clients with a toolkit to tackle everyday issues and to engender a senseof self-confidence and empowerment in those whom we assist. The foundation of our work is based upondeveloping lasting, trusting relationships with our client base
