North Shore Animal League America—the world's largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization—has saved the lives of over 1.1 million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens at risk of euthanasia. Through our many innovative programs, we reach across the country to rescue animals from overcrowded shelters, unwanted litters, puppy mills, natural disasters and other emergencies, rehabilitate them, and find them responsible, loving homes. As a leader in the no-kill movement, we are dedicated to promoting shelter pet adoptions; encouraging spay/neuter programs; reducing animal cruelty; ending euthanasia; and advancing the highest standards in animal welfare.

We seek out and take in the animals who no other organization will help or would simply euthanize because they are too expensive to heal. Founded by Tia Maria Torres, Villalobos Rescue Center is a 501c3 registered charity focusing on rehabilitation and rescue of the American Pit Bull Terrier dog, with help from the parolees who work and care for the dogs. VRC works ceaselessly to give Pit Bulls another chance in life. Each and EVERY dog gets spayed or neutered, and given any medical treatment necessary, before the search for that perfect home begins. Now located in Louisiana, due to the overwhelming need to help other dogs, VRC has now become an all breed rescue with the main focus still being on Pit Bulls. Now that we are in the South, we have to deal with the heartworm disease. This means that 99% of the dogs we take in, enter our facility with this pre-existing condition. It not only takes three to six months to cure, but costs up to $500 per dog.

Big Cat Rescue, one of the world’s largest accredited sanctuaries for exotic cats, is a leading advocate in ending the abuse of captive big cats and saving wild cats from extinction. Care of our cats. The narrow mission of Big Cat Rescue is to provide the best permanent home we can for the abused, abandoned and retired cats in our care. We do this by building enclosures in a very natural habitat with foliage and shelter on our 67 acre site, by providing the best nutritional and medical care possible, and by having active operant conditioning and enrichment programs to provide for their physical and psychological well being. Education. The broader mission of the sanctuary is to reduce the number of cats that suffer the fate of abandonment and/or abuse and to encourage preservation of habitat and wildlife. We urge people to behave in a way that will support these goals by teaching people about the plight of the cats, both in the wild and in captivity. We accomplish this through educational guided tours, educational programs for young people, and by maintaining a website that is the world's largest and best resource for information about exotic cats.

The mission of the Washington Humane Society (WHS) is to protect animals in the Washington, DC area from cruelty and harm.  WHS, the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States, has been the area’s leading voice for animals since 1870. As the only open-access shelter in the Nation’s Capital, the Washington Humane Society provides comfort and care to nearly 30,000 animals each year through its broad range of programs and services including sheltering for homeless animals, a comprehensive adoption program and off-site adoption events to find new families for the animals in our care, low-cost spay and neuter for pet owners and other local organizations, an aggressive TNR (trap-neuter-return) program for feral cats (CatNiPP), investigations of each allegation of animal cruelty or neglect through the Humane Law Enforcement, lost and found services to help reunite lost pets with their families, pet behavioral advice to help resolve issues that lead to animals being relinquished to shelters, working with breed rescue groups to find more homes for more animals, volunteer and foster programs to allow other members of the community to help us help more animals and an award-winning Humane Education program that teaches kindness to animals to the next generation of animal lovers.

MISSION COMPASSION PAW, INC. IS A CHICAGO BASED ANIMAL RESCUE THAT FINDS FOREVER HOMES FOR THE OVERLOOKED, ABUSED, NEGLECTED, IN NEED, AT RISK DOGS.

Animal Wellness Foundation rescues animals either from the Los Angeles area animal shelters or by other means and provides the necessary veterinary services in order for the animals to find their forever homes. The foundation holds adoption clinics where individuals and families can adopt the rescued animals. The foundation also provides veterinary care to many pets of low-income families.

UNDERDOG HEROES IS A VOLUNTEER AND DONATION BASED NONPROFIT ANIMAL RESCUE. WE WILL PROVIDE SHELTER, MEDICAL CARE, TRAINING AND REHABILITATION FOR ABUSED, INJURED, AND NEGLECTED ANIMALS WHO ARE AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA. OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE IS TO DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO HELP THEM TRANSITION AS WE WORK TO PLACE THEM IN A SAFE AND LOVING FOREVER HOME.

Paws for Heroes, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to bringing comfort and companionship to military members by rescuing shelter dogs that have been carefully selected and professionally trained for the purpose of providing emotional support.
