Our mission is to provide immediate safety and care to stray, abused and abandoned animals. Once we are assured animals are medically sound, we place them in a secure, temporary, no-kill environment. This immediate placement provides all the love and comfort necessary for their well being and allows us to get to know them. Then, we look for "forever" homes that are committed to their health and happiness for the duration of their lives. When we match an animal with a caring person or family, Buddy is truly fulfilling our purpose of lighting the way home

Established in 1986 by Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, OFI’s mission is to support the conservation, protection, and understanding of orangutans and their rainforest habitat while caring for wild-born, ex-captive orangutan orphans as they make their way back to the forest. OFI is dedicated to ensuring the survival of biologically-viable orangutan populations in the wild and safeguarding the welfare of orangutanswherever they are found. Our field work takes place in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo and involves a multi-pronged approach, including: (1) animal rescue, sanctuary, rehabilitation, repatriation and protection; (2) conservation education; (3) orangutan research; and (4) habitat protection, acquisition and restoration. In order to preserve forest ecosystems we empower local communities in Borneo through economic development and education initiatives. We raise awareness of orangutan and forest issues throughout the world through field research, the publication of books, scientific reports, articles, and newsletters, as well as lectures, conferences, events, workshops, and seminars.

Looking for an intelligent, meaningful way to contribute to a cleaner, healthier, more sustainable future? Donate to Alberta Ecotrust. Here’s why: We will direct 100% of all donations from individuals to funding non-profit groups around the province. Your dollars will go a long way when added to those of other donors to support local, volunteer driven non-profit groups who clean up streams, set up recycling centres, raise awareness and protect habitat for threatened species. The social value and impact of your investment is even greater as it will advance policy, education, practices and processes that help the smallest of stewardship groups achieve big mandates. Your contribution will also support mentorship and training of nonprofit groups through one-on-one coaching, webinars, workshops and events.
To mobilize collective wisdom and philanthropic capital to build empathetic, inclusive and resilient communities.
