Established in 1948, Morris Animal Foundation is dedicated to improving and protecting the health of animals through scientific innovation, education and inspiration. Our investment in research has yielded life-saving vaccines, new treatments for critical diseases, superior screening tests, and advanced diagnostic tools. We respond to emerging animal health threats that endanger entire species and make new discoveries in basic animal biology to support applied research. With every study we fund - more than 2,940 to date - we strive to advance the science of veterinary medicine, honoring the founding principles of Dr. Mark L. Morris Sr. to benefit animals worldwide. Established in 1986 by Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, OFI’s mission is to support the conservation, protection, and understanding of orangutans and their rainforest habitat while caring for wild-born, ex-captive orangutan orphans as they make their way back to the forest. OFI is dedicated to ensuring the survival of biologically-viable orangutan populations in the wild and safeguarding the welfare of orangutanswherever they are found. Our field work takes place in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo and involves a multi-pronged approach, including: (1) animal rescue, sanctuary, rehabilitation, repatriation and protection; (2) conservation education; (3) orangutan research; and (4) habitat protection, acquisition and restoration. In order to preserve forest ecosystems we empower local communities in Borneo through economic development and education initiatives. We raise awareness of orangutan and forest issues throughout the world through field research, the publication of books, scientific reports, articles, and newsletters, as well as lectures, conferences, events, workshops, and seminars.
The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation grants comfort and hope to those affected by epilepsy through providing monitoring resources, vital information, and a safe haven for conversation and community. Our main goal is to raise awareness of SUDEP and to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals and families living with epilepsy. We raise funds to provide education about SUDEP and to provide seizure response dog grants and movement monitors that help to protect against SUDEP. We stay up-to-date on current trends in medical technology in order to be able to provide the most effective devices as they become available. We provide financial assistance for what we believe to be life-saving movement monitors, grants for seizure-response service dogs and Chelsea's Wish Trips to Epilepsy Expos across the US each year. We respect the value and quality of life of every person living with epilepsy. We are dedicated to providing opportunities that allow individuals and families greater independence, increased confidence, ability to enjoy social environments, and community understanding.
About Us An impromptu group of concerned citizens met in December of ’06 to discuss the deteriorating condition of the Town of Groton Animal Control Facility and how they could improve things. A follow-up meeting was held in January of ’07 and the participants decided to form a non-profit organization whose goals would be to: • Inform Groton citizens of the need for a new facility • Get a referendum on the November ’07 ballot for bond moneys for a new structure • Provide continuing additional financial and physical support to the animal facility when needed. The organization was named the Groton Animal Foundation Inc.(GAF). GAF became incorporated in March of ’07 and in June of the same year, received its 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status. After a great deal of publicity by GAF to inform the public, Town Council and Town Representatives and in addition, a pledge from GAF to try and raise $200,000 toward the building of a new facility, a bond was placed on the ballot for $1.7 million dollars to build a new facility. The citizens of the Town of Groton approved the bond and the beautiful new facility is now in operation.
