We are a volunteer group drawn from all walks of life, devoted to the preservation and advancement of the Aviary and the care and breeding of its birds. Since our start in 1992 we have gone on to become a registered charity in 2000.

The Farmette is an animal sanctuary that provides food, shelter and care to horses and donkeys who were unwanted, mistreated and/or slaughter-bound. It works to protect vulnerable animals in the community and offers support to owners/rescues.

Serving the Greater Austin, TX community, we are a fully volunteer-run organization with a mission to help humanely trap, rescue, rehabilitate, and provide strategic consulting to lost or stray pet cases.
