The Elephant Project

Our mission is to develop new ideas and implement new solutions to address the short and long-term threats to elephant survival, providing them a new future free of cruelty and death at the hands of humans. Our unique approach of developing communities that will end poaching and illegal trafficking, implementing humane economies within host countries and by creating non-invasive research facilities, we will bring transformational change to this epic struggle while bettering the lives of the indigenous population and the host government. The Elephant Project will create self-sustaining and self-funding sanctuaries and communities reducing the need to constantly fundraise for the project. This project is designed to be a model that can be used all over the world to protect endangered species, better the economies of the host country, provide skills training, jobs, healthcare and educational opportunities for the indigenous population.

(SCRAPS) Band City Stray Cat Rescue and Protection Society Inc.

Band City Stray Cat Rescue and Protection Society Inc. (SCRAPS) is a non-profit organization of concerned volunteers who are committed to stablizing the feral cat population in the City of Moose Jaw through primarily non-lethal methods. We humanely trap feral cats, neuter/spay and vaccinate, and then release healthy animals back into the community. We support feral cat colonies by providing shelters, feeders, and follow-up medical care as required. We promote compassion for feral cats by educating the public about the important role feral cats play in controlling the rodent population. We work with other agencies to find home for those cats identified as adoptable. We promote responsible pet ownership by educating the public about the importance of spaying/neutering pets.

Spay Day HRM Society

Spay Day HRM was formed in 2011 to address the undisputed cat population explosion in the Halifax area. We assist people of low income to have their cats spayed/neutered. Often these cats do not receive veterinary care due to the economic situation of the owner and continue to add to the cat population. At this time there are no public funds for cats and the number of cats in need is great. We do a lot of work in areas of public housing and some of the most economically challenged neighbourhoods. We strive to over come the obstacles to having cats spayed or neutered. We make the clinic appointment, provide the cat carrier and the drive to the appointment. We return the cat back home and discuss after care with the owner. We provide education to the cat owner on the benefits of spaying, neutering and keeping their cat indoors
