Partnership For Animal Welfare

Since its incorporation in 1996, the Partnership for Animal Welfare, Inc. (PAW) has been providing residents of the DC metropolitan area with an outlet for them to adopt stray or abandoned animals. PAW is an all-volunteer organization and we have placed over 5,000 animals with area residents who now share the benefits that companion animals bring to our every day lives. Through our weekly adoption shows, we showcase dogs and cats rescued from local animal shelters, negligent and abusive situations. All the animals under PAW's care are carefully screened by our volunteers, examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and receive any other medical attention needed. Our volunteers bring the animals into their homes to provide socialization and much needed tender, loving care.

Dharma Voices For Animals

Dharma Voices for Animals (DVA) is a nonprofit organization committed both to practicing the teachings of the Buddha (the Dharma) and to speaking out when the actions of those in Dharma communities and the policies of Dharma centers lead to animal suffering. We want to be the voice of the animals who cannot speak our language. We speak out about the harm we cause other sentient beings when we eat them, use their body parts as clothing, or use products that are tested on them. While DVA recognizes the challenges of living in a complex, modern society, we wish to promote the choices that provide the greatest reduction of animal suffering.

Last Chance for Animals

Last Chance for Animals (LCA) recognizes that animals have the ability to experience pain, and as such they deserve certain basic rights protecting them from pain caused by humans. LCA believes that non-human animals should not be subjected to suffering and exploitation by humans because alternatives exist for nearly every traditional "usage" of animals. LCA opposes the use of animals for scientific curiosity, entertainment, clothing, and food. LCA recognizes the use of non-human animals in medical experimentation as both immoral and of questionable scientific validity due to the tremendous biological difference between species. LCA's work advocates conscious and informed lifestyle decisions, and the organization is committed to disseminating truthful information about societal animal abuse to improve the treatment of animals.

Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester

The Humane Society Of Rochester And Monroe County for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Inc. was founded in 1873. Since the 1950's the Society has been known as Lollypop Farm, its name coming from the then popular Shirley Temple song - On the Good Ship Lollipop. Our mission is to build lifelong bonds between people and animals through education, community outreach programs, and the prevention of cruelty.  We envision a time when our community celebrates the human-animal bond; embraces the mutual benefits therein; and treats all fellow beings with care, compassion and respect.
