FOHR works in partnership with John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge to connect people with nature and promote a culture of environmental stewardship through education, outreach, service and nature-based recreation for the conservation of wildlife and habitat

Founded in 1883 by NY State as a fish hatchery, today our mission is to bring knowledge and understanding of our freshwater environment to students of all ages and the general public, connect people to nature, and encourage environmental stewardship.

Public listings classify the organization under animal protection and welfare; based on that classification, the group’s purpose is to serve animal-protection needs for stray animals (e.g., reducing suffering and managing stray populations through rescue, neuter/spay and community-focused services). I could not find an official mission text on an organizational website or filing.

1. Save and rehabilitate adult and orphaned Wildlife that have been brought to the facility for release to their natural habitat. 2. To act as an advocate for native species among the general public and the Division of Wildlife. 3. To design custom programs to educate the populations about methods to prevent potential problems with wildlife. 4. To provide educational seminars tailored for specific groups about the care of animals wild and domestic.

Our mission is to help control the pet population through spay and neuter awareness, prevent animal neglect and cruelty, provide shelter for stray and lost pets, place homeless animals into loving homes, reunite lost and found animals with their proper owners, and educate the community about animal welfare. We strive to instill appreciation, care, and compassion for all animals, great and small within our community.

Banding Coalition of the Americas is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) that conducts bird banding and migratory research while providing public outreach and education. They use banding and modern tracking methods to study migratory connectivity across the Americas and to engage the public in avian conservation.

Bark Avenue Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to empower pet owners and local communities to reduce abandoned animal populations through spay/neuter, pet retention, reclamation and education. Working with communities and non-profit partners, Bark Avenue Foundation provides spay/neuter funding, pet tags, microchips, education and support to pets of families in need in Los Angeles and surrounding counties.

Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Foundation volunteers take needy dogs, puppies, cats and kittens into their own homes and provide loving care until a suitable home is found. Very few animals in this area are spayed and neutered, so the animal population grows exponentially. The statistic is if all a female dog's puppies survive and continue to breed, in five years sixty-five hundred puppies will be born. One cat gives rise to four hundred fifty thousand kittens in seven years. Previous to our spay campaign, the only thing that checked the animal population on these two reserves was deaths due to predation, harsh winters, starvation, diseases and parasitic infestations. Paws and Claws Animal Rescue volunteers are dedicated to changing this situation. Three years ago Paws and Claw began a spay program, free to residents on the Sunchild and O'Chiese Reserves. We have spayed approximately three hundred dogs and cats in this time. Please help us spay more dogs and cats!

Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home small breed dogs into permanent loving homes. To evaluate each dog and potential home with the goal of matching each dog to the best possible home. To provide education with regard to the Shih Tzu breed, the importance of responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spaying and neutering to help with the over-population of pets. To work in cooperation with shelters, rescue groups and other national breed rescues to help coordinate our efforts.

Cat AdopTion Service is a no-kill, volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and permanent placement of homeless cats and kittens into responsible, loving homes. Our goal is to significantly and positively affect the homeless cat population in the San Diego area by finding homes for domestic cats and kittens. All of our cats are spayed/neutered before adoption. Whenever possible we also trap/spay/release any feral mother of kittens that we take in.

The Valley Animal Center is dedicated to controlling the pet population through education and spaying/neutering, not euthanasia. We believe animals, as living creatures, deserve to be protected, respected, and given every consideration morally and ethically. Our mission is to assist with and provide for the health and welfare of the animals that have been abused, mistreated, abandoned, and injured; to promote the bond between animals and people; and to instill an appreciation and respect for all living creatures with whom we share this earth.
