Less than an hour, northeast of Montreal, the Lanaudière Festival is the most highly-acclaimed classical music festival in Canada. Thousands of music lovers flock to the outdoor Fernand-Lindsay Amphitheatre, sitting under the roof, or picnicking on the sloping lawn to hear major symphonic orchestras and internationally renowned soloists. Concerts are also held in the magnificent historic churches of the Lanaudière region. More than 25 wonderful concerts and a wide range of tourist activities are available from July to the beginning of August.
VIFF is among the top five film festivals in North America, with 150,000 admissions and 380 films from 75 countries. The 16-day festival is a microcosm of its home city: cosmopolitan, friendly, culturally complex, laid-back and accessible. VIFF’s slogan is “Same Planet. Different Worlds.” Films are exhibited within 10 main programming strands. Three of these are pillars of the festival and help make it unique: the major Nonfiction Features section (42% of the 232 feature-length films screened in 2009 were docs); the popular Canadian Images program makes VIFF the biggest showcase of Canadian film in the world; and the Dragons & Tigers: The Cinemas of East Asia program is the largest exhibition of East Asian film outside that region.

Have you been PuShed? Quite simply, PuSh is about pushing artistic boundaries. It's about finding that line that some might be afraid to cross and crossing it anyway. And in so doing, we not only have the opportunity to engage our audiences, but perhaps even enter into something together that expands our horizons. Ultimately, to be PuShed is to be moved, just a little bit more... to laughter, to tears, even to anger. But the result is a shared, transformative experience. It is what we believe the performing arts are here to do. And it is our greatest wish to cross that line together with you.
