The wildfires on the Carmel Mountain have been extinguished but the emergency continues! The Carmel is devastated and vulnerable to additional fires. The fires took 42 lives, destroyed hundreds of homes, consumed over 5 million trees and destroyed 25,000 acres of forest. The people of Haifa and the Carmel need your help. We must stand and help the families who have been evacuated and who lost their homes, we must rehabilitate the Carmel forest and we must strengthen the fire truck brigade with uniforms, equipment and replenish inventories of fire retardent chemicals to start. Any donation is appreciated. For more information and updates go to www.haifa-foundation.org or contact our email us at lisaplant.haifafoundation@gmail.com
Incorporated January 15 2001 as a “not for profit” registered organization to promote, encourage, and sustain an active and vibrant artistic community within the Sarnia-Lambton region. The vision behind our programming and outreach is to provide space for artists and art groups to make, to perform, and to support the arts in our City and rural communities. With the assistance of funding from corporate partners, Provincial and Municipal grants and foundations, the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts (LHCA) has developed into a significant arts centre that is viewed in our region as the hub for arts activities throughout Sarnia-Lambton. We continue to build a community where arts are relevant and are part of every day life. The intent is that they are viewed as an essential part of the community both socially and economically. The LHCA encourages and recognizes community participation in the arts as volunteers, practitioners, audience members and supporters.
Improving the quality of education available to children and youth, especially from disadvantaged communities
The Leacock Club and Foundation was established in 1992 and has a 16 year history of making a difference in the lives of children. The Leacock Club provides funding for its associated charitable public foundation—the Stephen Leacock Foundation for Children. Since its inception, our supporters have donated $5.5 million to its public foundation- the Stephen Leacock Foundation for Children, through membership donations, corporate sponsorship and special events. We are Efficient: Administration expenses are held to a 10% threshold. We achieve this efficiency through careful budgeting, low overheads and volunteerism.
