DURHAM GIRLS’ CHOIR

Fostering an appreciation for the choral art in members and audiences alike, the Durham Girls’ Choir’s love of singing is evinced by their high level of achievement. Founded in 1972, the choir’s 40-year history is studded with honours earned at home and abroad. The choir has gained a reputation for high standards through participation in local, national and international music festivals. Challenged by a culturally diverse repertoire of treble choral music, the choir members develop their musical identity and personal identity in equal measure as they establish their place in their community and explore their relationship in the world. The choir comprises two separate groups, the Junior Choir and the Senior Choir, ranging in age from 8 – 21.

Austin Zoo

Austin Zoo assists animals in need through rescue, rehabilitation and education. Austin Zoo is a private, non-profit "rescue zoo" that is home to over 300 animals. Austin Zoo is a nationally recognized animal rescue facility. Most of the animals at Austin Zoo were confiscated, abandoned, strays, unwanted, neglected and had nowhere else to go. Unfortunately, we must turn away many animals for lack of space (enclosures). We refer these animals to other reputable facilities but most are also full. We have additional land on which to expand and will be doing so in the next several years. We also provide educational opportunities for schools, colleges and universities and youth groups.

Three Bone Theatre

Three Bone Theatre is Charlotte's home for the best of adult contemporary theatre. We believe that great theatre can be a catalyst for conversation and change in our community. Our business philosophy stems from the Reba McEntire quote, “To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a back bone, and a funny bone.” Our mission is to create a performing arts experience that is socially engaged, professionally managed, and creatively inspired. As a local arts organization, we feel strongly about supporting other local groups. We partner with a different local organization for each production with the hope of raising awareness to the unique themes present in each production and the commendable work that is being done in Charlotte.

Benjamin West Society

The Benjamin West Society is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation that seeks to preserve the memory of the father of American painting, Benjamin West, by connecting the various sites linked to West in suburban Philadelphia, his birthplace and the area institutions that preserve and display his works. We hope to make his childhood home at the Square Tavern in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, a focal point for remembering the artist. We are commissioning a life-sized statue to be placed on the Tavern grounds showing the young West. We have exhibits inside the Tavern that promote his life and career. We hope that by promoting the life and works and local ties of Benjamin West we create an economic engine for preserving the Tavern building and site.

Watersheds Canada

We work with a broad range of stakeholders to improve cooperation for more effective water protection - including monitoring, data sharing, outreach, education, and research. We are in the process of re-designing Water Connections, an online portal to connect Canada's water community, in order to better serve its users. www.waterconnect.ca will allow everyone to share data, experiences, best practices, templates, news, and events about their own water activities, and will generate engagement within communities for water protection. Other important initiatives include educating shoreline owners and recreational water users how to best conserve the health of lakes and rivers. Our location is also home to an impressive demonstration site for a zero discharge wastewater garden!
