Dizzy Feet Foundation was founded in 2009 by producer Nigel Lythgoe and director Adam Shankman, among others to support, improve, and increase access to dance education in the United States. Guided by a board representing all aspects of the American dance community, the foundation's mission is threefold: 1. To sponsor, fund, and/or support dance education programs which expose children in low-income areas to the lifelong benefits of dance education through and with local community organizations. 2. Founded in 1989, The Northwest Literacy Foundation is a volunteer run nonprofit that seeks to strengthen our community by putting books in the hands of young readers. The NWLF is committed to enhancing youth literacy efforts in the Pacific Northwest by providing literature and resources through partnerships with schools and community organizations. The NWLF collaborates with schools and organizations throughout the area, serving students with high needs and often lacking a depth of resources. Through grants of books, we work to “fill the shelves” of local school libraries, provide additional classroom resources, host author visits and purchase books for community organizations engaged in educational programs. With a rich history of focusing on young readers, collaborating with schools and building effective community partnerships, Northwest Literacy Foundation has provided over 180,000 new books to children, schools and community groups.
The Rouge Valley Foundation is a charitable organization, which has worked for 25 years to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the Rouge Valley. To work closely with the community, the Foundation opened the doors of the Rouge Valley Conservation Centre (RVCC). The RVCC supports & complements various environmental groups that work out of the centre and in the Rouge Valley watershed. Currently the RVCC serves as the headquarters of the Citizen Scientists and 10,000 trees to name a couple. Our yearly fundraising events include Ride for the Rouge and Rouge Valley Eco Exploration. We also offer school programs and hikes to the general public. In 2009 we launched our green energy initiative to educate the community about alternative energy and we began implementing our own green energy solutions.
The Coquitlam Foundation attracts and manages charitable gifts of cash, bonds, shares, pledges, bequests, memorials and life insurance in the form of permanent endowments. The earnings on these endowment funds are used to return monies to local charities in the form of grants for initiatives to benefit local children, youth, seniors, arts & cultural, conservation and heritage projects of benefit to the residents of Coquitlam.
The Saskatchewan Nurses Foundation (SNF) is a registered charity that provides bursaries to eligible Registered Nurses who are pursuing continuing nursing education at the baccalaureate, masters or doctoral level or in clinical nursing courses of at least 15 days in length. After graduation, SNF bursary recipients must work in the province for one year for every $1000.00 received.
