The National Farmers Foundation has a board of directors made up of five persons known for their commitment to education and research for the benefit of the family farm in Canada. The directors are in sympathy with the goals, objectives, and policy of the National Farmers Union. Representatives of various sectors in the country, such as family farmers, organic product marketers, new rural development groups, churches, rural youth and women, and urban consumers supported the establishment of the organization. Many of these have identified a vacuum with respect to accessible education and plain language research to help direct the crucial ventures in rural development which will mean not only survival, but the thriving of rural communities into the twenty - first century. A new awareness of the interdependence of rural and urban communities creates a challenge to promote action-oriented education and research which will create and enhance positive rural/urban cooperation.
Inner Winnipeg faces a number of challenges. Not every family or community has access to the same economic opportunities and social supports, or even to the basics that children need to succeed. Impoverished living conditions can result in a number of other challenges like neighbourhood violence, emotional trauma, homelessness, and hunger. Children living in these environments are coping with high stress levels that can impact learning and affect how well they perform in school. Access to education is a serious issue because it affects the quality of life and prospects of children, families, and neighbourhoods. It is a root cause of many other issues including joblessness, crime and violence, poor physical and mental health, and neighbourhood decline. The Westland Foundation believes that post secondary education is critical to the future of the students we support and to the betterment of our society.

The Children's Radio Foundation (CRF) uses radio training and broadcast to create opportunities for youth dialogue, participation, leadership, and active citizenship. Through giving youth the tools and skills to produce radio, young people are mobilized to engage in productive dialogue about the issues they face, and work together to improve their lives and communities. With 74 youth radio projects across six African countries, CRF works with radio stations and CBOs to create local platforms for discussion, information sharing, social engagement, and action. Our reporters take on issues that resonate with youth in their community, including but not limited to children's rights, sexual reproductive health and rights, power dynamics in teenage relationships, gender norms and stereotypes, HIV and AIDS-related issues, climate change, and the environment. Speaking in local languages and in a youth-friendly style, they interview community members, host debates, and bring out local perspectives. Their reporting projects, broadcasts, and outreach activities are geared to generate discussion about issues facing youth.

The DJ DEMP Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization based in Tallahassee, Florida. We transform the lives of at-risk youth through education and advocacy. We help at-risk youth identify bullying and prevent bullying through positive problem-solving. We believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our mission is to provide a creative learning environment for youth with a particular emphasis on problem solving and youth development to prevent bullying. Our anti-bullying program focuses on eradicating bullying, ridiculing, teasing, and harassment in school. Bullying has a serious and lasting negative effect on the mental health and overall well-being of youth. We work to combat the negative outcomes of bullying, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and poor social performance. Our program centers on aiding students in identifying what bullying is and helping parents train their children on how to recognize bullying and stand up to bullies. We focus on social-emotional learning. We use music to address social issues. Music is an effective tool for supporting students in learning. It gives students a unique opportunity to express themselves creatively and build confidence. Music also improves cognitive and non-cognitive skills and helps develop language skills in children. The TimeHeroes Foundation was founded in 2011 with the goal to build and develop the volunteering culture in Bulgaria. Today the organisation runs the largest volunteering platform in Bulgaria - TimeHeroes.org. By the end of January 2018, TimeHeroes.org has matched 638 organisations which need support for their causes with over 40 000 individuals who wish to donate their time and skills. So far the volunteers have taken part 65 379 times in 1400 volunteering initiatives (called missions) in 175 towns across Bulgaria. The platform is the main, and often sole, source for Bulgarian nonprofit organizations and active citizens to recruit volunteers. To achieve our mission to develop Bulgaria's volunteering culture, we run several further projects. ANNUAL AWARDS We established the annual volunteering awards THE HEROES, which reward outstanding volunteers, organisers, responsible companies and media (after open nominations), and promote and stimulate volunteering as a whole. In 2017 a jury selected 23 of the 226 nominees and these were announced at an official ceremony that was widely covered in media, was attended by 250+ guests and was streamed 26 000 times. YOUTH VOLUNTEERING We are growing a network of school and university volunteer clubs across the country. Over 30 clubs are currently active with 500+ student members organising their own community-based initiatives or supporting existing volunteer missions held by local nonprofits. SENIORS' VOLUNTEER PHONE LINE We operate a National Volunteers' Phone Line volunteering telephone line as an alternative to the website for people without access to the internet or a computer, mainly targeting seniors and retirees. This project aims to tackle the pervasive societal isolation in this age group in Bulgaria. CAPACITY BUILDING Through workshops and systematised good practices we are actively building the capacity of Bulgarian nongovernmental organisations for working with volunteers. In 2015-2016 we collected and systematised the experience of 250 Bulgarian NGOs working with volunteers. We are sharing this know-how in a wiki platform, a 100-page handbook and a series of workshops. Over 1000 NGOs have received the handbook, about 100 have so far participated in our highly-rated workshops. We also fundraise and distribute monthly small grants enabling volunteer involvement in causes.
