The Smithsonian's mission is "the increase and diffusion of knowledge." It was established in 1846 with funds bequeathed to the United States by James Smithson. The Institution is as an independent trust instrumentality of the United States and holds more than 137 million artifacts and specimens in its collections. It is a center for scientific research and scholarship in the arts, history, and culture.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit philanthropic, educational organization that operates in partnership with the National Park Service to preserve Gettysburg National Military Park and the Eisenhower National Historic Site and to educate the public about their significance.

The mission of the LACS is symbolized as "Roots and Leaves" - preserve the "roots" of Luxembourg heritage/culture from throughout the United States and foster "leaves" of family, friendship, and cultural exchange, education, tourism, and commerce between the United States and Luxembourg.

MNA's mission is to inspire a sense of love and responsibility for the beauty and diversity of the Colorado Plateau through collecting, studying, interpreting and preserving the region's natural and cultural heritage. MNA is a significant educational, collections and research institution that serves a diverse local community and a national and international audience united by a desire to learn about the Colorado Plateau. Since its founding, MNA has been a committed resource and partner to native communities and has filled a need for meaningful interaction between native and non-native communities.

Pacific Historic Parks is a nonprofit cooperating association that raises funds and provides educational, interpretive, research, preservation, and restoration support for the USS Arizona Memorial and other historic Pacific park sites. It works with the National Park Service and partners to preserve these sites’ history, produce interpretive programs and exhibits, and engage visitors and students so the events and people of the Pacific’s history are remembered and understood.

The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation (NAMF) inspires, engages and educates the public by supporting, promoting and perpetuating the National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM) and through the National Flight Academy (NFA), delivering aviation inspired learning experiences focused on science, mathematics and 21st century leadership skills.

The Tenement Museum tells the uniquely American stories of immigrants, migrants, and refugees in the ongoing creation of our nation.
