Amarok Society is a Canadian charity that goes into the world's most forbidding slums to teach mothers to teach children too poor for school. Daily, each mother goes from her Amarok Society Womens' School to teach at least 5 children from her neighbourhood in her own home. Amarok Society teaches literacy in Bangla, English and numeracy as well as health and hygiene and child care and development. The wonderful women of our Mothers of Intention Projects overcome a lifetime of bitter discouragement to find inspiration and hope in the promise that the children will be able to work their way out of their terrible poverty and debilitating ignorance. This is a new, effective, sustainable and cost-efficient method of addressing a very serious and dangerous problem that has resisted improvement in the past. Teach a Mother, Change the World

Pain BC is a non-profit society made up of health care practitioners, people in pain, and others with a shared passion for easing the burden of pain in British Columbia. Pain BC recognizes that nothing affects our well being more than pain; whether living with a chronic condition (like arthritis, heart disease, or cancer), suffering with an illness like fibromyalgia or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, or recovering from injury or surgery, persistent pain is the common element with the single greatest impact on quality of life. For over 27 years in Durham Region, Girls Inc. has helped girls at-risk achieve their full potential. We've provided thousands of girls knowledge, skills, and attitudes to overcome social, emotional, and economic challenges in order to achieve their full potential. Girls who participate in Girls Inc. programs: Grow self-esteem that carries over to home, school, and the community; Develop sound decision-making and communication skills; Assert themselves as confident individuals throughout their lives; Build key leadership and strong work skills; Create meaningful, supportive peer groups. Programs cover a variety of topics such as: - Body image and self esteem - Bullying and violence prevention - Health & relationships - Peer pressure - Substance use prevention - Science, math & technology - Financial literacy - Sports participation

Founded in 2016, Sound Aloud exists to equip this generation with the tools to find their voice (identity), release their sound (purpose), and live it ALOUD (unashamed); becoming the sound of freedom to this world. Our heart as a ministry is to use the Creative Arts (fine, performing, visual), holistic health, and mentoring/outreach programs to unleash the treasure that is buried just beneath the surface of our “generationals”. We do this to spark the creative, and vivid imaginations that need motivation and training - the type of training that prepares them to become confident young men and women, and the hope of our future. Our programs and services create positive outlets, give support, nurture dreams, send a message of hope, deal with issues that this generation face, bring cultural awareness, cross religious and cultural boundaries, provide discipleship, help build confidence, build strong self-esteem, character, and create teamwork and connection.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria serves more than 600 children and youth each year in the Greater Victoria region. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria positively affects our community by providing mentoring programs for children and youth, which enhance their sense of belonging, self-worth, resiliency and capacity to make healthy, well-informed choices. All of the children and youth in our programs need a friend, some a role-model and champion, others require assistance with learning or social issues, and others live in households where family members are challenged by isolation, poverty, or health or addiction issues. We envision a future when we are able to provide a sustainable, quality mentoring experience for every child or youth who expresses a desire to have a mentor because we know that the power of mentorship has a positive impact that lasts for a lifetime.

Change for Children partners with communities in Latin America and Africa who are struggling against poverty and injustice to improve access to basic needs, healthcare and education. Our development projects, their cost and priority, are determined by our Southern partners according to the current needs of their communities. Change for Children is about social change. The Nidus Personal Planning Resource Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization. Nidus provides • Public legal education on personal planning and related matters such as health care consent, living wills and advance directives • Problem-solving and coaching in support of best practices for attorneys, representatives, and monitors • Training for volunteers and organizations • Policy consultation for third parties Nidus also operates a centralized Registry for personal planning documents in partnership with Juricert Inc. of the Law Society of British Columbia. Nidus is currently the only community-based resource in Canada devoted to personal planning. Its existence sets British Columbia apart as a leader in addressing the critical needs of an aging population and in facilitating Representation Agreements as a legal model for supported decision making which inspired Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (2008).

Food for the Poor Canada (FFPC) is an interdenominational, Christian charity whose purpose is to provide basic aid and sustainable development to those in need in Haiti and Jamaica. Our current focus is on education and health. With your help we are building schools and training teachers. We are feeding the hungry, building homes and providing healthcare to the sick. Food For The Poor Canada is an affiliated agency to Food For The Poor Inc. (USA), one of the largest international relief and development agencies in North America. Its programs are close to $1 billion dollars yearly with a 96% efficiency ratio. Food For The Poor Canada works with established partners in the region. These organizations are in charge of distribution of goods to churches, hospitals, schools and community leaders that work directly with the poor. They oversee and manage the construction of homes, water wells, schools, clinics and all other projects funded by FFP (USA) and FFPC.

Support Casa Guatemala Children works to empower Casa Guatemala in the mutual vision to equip the children in their care with the skills and education needed to become upstanding, empowered citizens in their community and to become fully self-sustained through the businesses that they run which provide financial support and meaningful job training for the older children. Throughout the 20 year partnership, SCGC has played an integral role in promoting the health and well-being of underprivileged children in Guatemala by providing financial assistance to Casa Guatemala. SCGC work with Casa Guatemala to: Provide nutritional and medical assistance to children; Provide informal adult vocational training in agriculture, carpentry and other skill areas for the adults of the community in which these children live, and; Relieve the distress of orphaned and abandoned children through provision of accommodation, food, medical supplies, education and training, and other similar activities.

In 2003, CCI opened the Rainbow Centre in Andhra Pradesh in India which, up until 2009, took in about one hundred child labourers. Caught up in the endless cycle of slavery, these children used to labour in conditions that threatened their safety and development. Together with their families, they now enjoy health care, and access to education and career training as well as to microcredit programmes. In 2010, CCI enrolled them in the best schools in their area, where they are getting very good grades; these children are closer now than ever to their dream of holding a decent job.Since 2009, CCI finances the administration costs of the Santikham Centre outside Bangkok, Thailand, which is managed by the Foundation for Child Development, a Thai non-governmental organisation. FCD strives to better the lives of child labourers and their families, who have illegally crossed into Thailand and are thus particularly vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation.
