COMING HOME SOCIETY

The Coming Home Society's Young Wolves Lodge offers healing through cultural recovery. Aboriginal values, traditions, and spirituality are at the heart of the structured program that addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness. It is a voluntary program accepting self-referrals. The program has a Transition Worker who focuses on preparing women for integration into the community after graduation. She also mentors each young woman for one year of post-graduation support. Young Wolves Lodge is a joint initiative of the Anglican Church's Coming Home Society and the Aboriginal community's Urban Native Youth Association. We invite the community to be part of Canada's commitment to healing and reconciliation with Aboriginal Peoples by supporting this program.

HOME SUITE HOPE

Home Suite Hope is an innovative homelessness initiative, and a registered Canadian Charity. By creating affordable housing and a community of hope, society as a whole will benefit along with the individual served. We provide affordable housing as residents build: • a sense of empowerment and life-purpose • a commitment to an active life • positive change and growth • participation in the community on a self-sufficient basis HSH is designed for people who are homeless or face a housing crisis, are committed to personal development and growth, and are able to live independently and cooperatively with others. HSH is made affordable through the efforts of volunteers and support from various funders. It is apparent to us that community level initiatives such as ours can play a strong role in providing solutions to the growing homelessness crisis, and inspire hope among homeless people living without shelter today.

Autism Home Base

15% of people with autism have complex social, communication and behavioral challenges that precludes their inclusion in the community. With no vocational, educational or volunteer opportunities available to them, the economic and emotional weight of their care falls to their families once they reach adult age. We provide social and recreational opportunities for these adults along with their caregiver. We give these families a reason to get up in the morning. We work with community partners to adapt opportunities to ensure success. Our programs serve small groups with regularly scheduled community-based activities in response to their unique individual preferences and interests. We seek to have all programs 100% subsidized through donations so that economics will not be a barrier to inclusion.
