Our outreach workers are continually establishing relationships with children and youth who are on the streets. Their message is simple and clear: "If you want to get off the streets we will help you." This is done by providing services to this marginalized group, referring them to agencies and programs that can assist with their addictions and or life issues. When there is no program or assistance available, the PAR Foundation provides the resources to assist the individual. Expected outcomes for Alberta's children and youth: The Nexus Project is the street outreach program currently run by the PAR Foundation. As funding permits, this project will be expanded to reach more youth in the schools, before they are out on the streets, and to provide early intervention, and harm reduction models that can be easily followed by the youth.
Miracle Foundation is an international nonprofit that helps orphans and foster children find a safe, stable, and permanent family. Whether in an orphanage or in the Foster Care System, our vision is a family for every child in our lifetime. Since 2000, Miracle Foundation has been dedicated to improving the lives of children. In 2022 alone, we supported more than 170,000 children—and this is just the beginning. Today, we are a world leader in ending the need for orphanages and ensuring children grow up in safe, stable families. To achieve this, we are actively uniting children with families, partnering with frontline workers, preventing children from entering the system whenever possible, and stabilizing placements for children until they find a forever family. Metchosin’s coast, meadows, forest, woodlands and mountainous areas include some of Canada’s rarest species and ecosystems. Being located in the rainshadow of the Olympic Mountains has produced a mild, seasonally dry climate that favours flora and fauna that are unique in Canada. Our Garry oak woodland is one of the rarest ecosystems in Canada, featuring displays of camas and fawn lilies that draw admirers from far and wide. The remnant old growth Coastal Douglas-fir forests at Mary Hill and Rocky Point are considered globally significant. The Metchosin Foundation was started in order to preserve our rare species and the forests and meadows that they inhabit. To that end we work with landowners to ensure that the landscapes they love will be protected into the future. Facilitating and supporting conservation covenants is the main tool at our disposal to help preserve these ecosystems.
