Since 1993, The Redwood has helped over 3,500 women and children live free from domestic violence. Free from fear. Free from threat. We provide safe and accessible services - from a secure home to counselling to legal support – now in over 170 different languages. With your investment, The Redwood can help women and children take the leap of faith - by providing them a safe haven, and helping them build the skills and confidence they need to get their lives back on track.

Who is “The Dam”? The Dam is a community based non-profit that utilizes a unique approach of coming alongside the youth in Meadowvale, Cooksville and Burlington. Three of our key programs that meet needs faced on a daily basis are: 1. Young Moms - for pregnant teens, young moms and their children 2. Outreach - reaching thousands of teens in their schools & in the community 3. Drop-in - which targets youth-at-risk and sees over 11,000 youth visits per year The DAM stands for: Develop: To provide opportunities for youth and young moms to reach their full potential. Assist: To be a resource, supporting youth and young moms as they make better choices. Mentor: To be a consistent, relational presence in the lives of youth and young moms.

The Lighthouse has been active in the inner city of Toronto for over 40 years. The Lighthouse’s focus is on refugees and immigrants, the disadvantaged, low-income individuals and families at high risk in the Hispanic, Chinese, and Vietnamese communities residing in the Greater Toronto Area. Many of our clients have suffered political, emotional and physical abuse and persecution in their homeland, lost family and possessions, or been subjected to violent and traumatic events. Our clients carry these difficulties together with the challenges of trying to settle into a new country. At The Lighthouse we offer individual and family counselling in our clients’ first languages, and our Hispanic Coordinator has also been trained in trauma counselling. The Lighthouse assists its clients by providing different settlement services, life-skills training and education – such as ESL classes, a haircutting course, cooking and nutrition classes – and summer children’s programs.

The Actors' Fund of Canada is a registered charity that provides short-term financial aid to entertainment industry professionals working in theatre, film & TV, music and dance. Performers, creators, technical staff and other production team members can apply for help from the Fund which delivered over $460,000 in rent payments, grocery money, utility payments and other basic living expenses to clients in the last 12 months and over $4.5 million in the last 10 years. The Actors' Fund receives no government funding and is wholly sustained by support from individuals and entertainment industry organizations.

The Bridge is an ecumenical organization helping prisoners, former prisoners, and their families achieve a more positive life-style and emable them to become contributing members of society.

Our vision for The Door is one of a welcoming place where young people aged 12-18 acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours to become independent adults capable of realizing their full potential and participating actively in their communities. The programs of The Door are founded on voluntary participation in activities structured to maximize the opportunity for young people to engage in terms of their unique development capacities and needs. Every program operates within a framework designed to: * Strengthen personal knowledge and skills and the promotion of healthy behaviours and lifestyles. * Develop interpersonal skills and practices of understanding, tolerance and inclusion. * Contribute to a sense of civic responsibility and engagement in community.

To bring this goal to life, we will gather from four directions to: - Strengthen the level, innovation, and community reach of financial and human investments in Aboriginal communities across the country. - Nurture conversations, connections, and relationships among Aboriginal communities and philanthropic organizations. - Recognize deeply rooted injustices and model respect for First Nation, Inuit, and Métis cultures, practices, and institutions. - Broaden and deepen public knowledge, including the history of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. - Support the flourishing of Aboriginal models of philanthropy. - Promote and strengthen First Nations, Inuit, and Métis participation in the governance and decision-making of philanthropic organizations.
