The YVR Art Foundation was founded in 1993 by the Vancouver Airport Authority to foster the development of BC First Nations art and artists. In 2004, in collaboration with corporate and foundation donors, the Foundation created an Art Scholarship and Awards Program to provide support to BC First Nations youth who wished to develop their artistic potential.
