ArtSea Community Arts Council

The CACSP is a registered charitable organization incorporated in 1991. With only one part-time employee, the CACSP is almost entirely volunteer run. A committed and active board has made possible steady, sustainable growth. Funding is predominantly through Municipal and Provincial grants. The CACSP enjoys strong support from the Town of Sidney, the Municipalities of North and Central Saanich and the BC Arts Council. The area in which CACSP operates has one of the highest populations of artists in Canada whose work enriches arts and culture across Canada. The CACSP also fundraises for 'Arts in the Schools;' local arts practitioners are hired by School District 63 to support and enhance arts curriculum. Over 10K was granted in 2013 to SD63 and ~4,000 students experienced increased arts opportunities as a result. The CACSP is involved in over 30 arts shows and arts related events yearly. We support smaller arts organization programming through our member group grants program.

PORT COLBORNE FELINE INITIATIVE

PCFI is an all volunteer org dedicated to humanely containing our community's free-roaming cat population & improving their quality of life through our community sneuter programs. Operation CatSnips, our trap-neuter-vaccinate-return program for unowned, free-roaming cats, ensures these cats are sterilized, vaccinated for rabies, eartipped and released back to their home territory where they receive daily food and water and shelter. SNAP is our sneuter assistance program for cats of Port Colborne residents who qualify as low income. KitKat is our foster and socialization program for unowned kittens. Kittens are then adopted out through our partnership with WHS. Each time a cat is sneutered the birthrate is lowered by hundreds, resulting in fewer homeless cats and kittens and ending the vicious cycle of reproduction. Since June 2009 we have enrolled 801 cats in our programs. With your help we will continue to make a difference in the lives of our community cats!

The American Chestnut Foundation

The American Chestnut Foundation has one simple goal: to restore the American chestnut to its native forests. Destroyed by an imported blight many consider the worst environmental disaster of the twentieth century, the American chestnut was virtually eliminated from the eastern hardwood forest between 1904 and 1940. With its loss, wildlife populations plummeted; never to return to former levels. With recent developments in genetics, there is promise that this critically important wildlife food source and timber tree will again become part of our natural heritage. To make this possibility a reality, a group of prominent scientists, in 1983, established the non-profit research-oriented American Chestnut Foundation (TACF). The Foundation's mission is simple: to restore the American chestnut as an integral part of the eastern forest ecosystem. TACF is employing traditional plant breeding techniques, backed by advanced research methods, to develop a blight resistant American chestnut tree. TACF is restoring a species - and in the process, creating a template for restoration of other tree and plant species.

Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife has a simple mission - to create parks and save species. In creating parks, we work with State and Federal governments to identify potential land purchases, and then assist with funds to acquire that land. We don't hold any land - we pass it straight over to the Government to add to the National Park portfolio and it is then managed by the state rangers. In saving species, we work extensively with volunteers, scientists, governments, local communities and other organisations to deliver community-based conservation projects and research nation-wide, including developing corridors for native animals, connecting disparate groups of species to allow them to survive and thrive. Partnership is at the very heart of our philosophy and is central to everything we do.

John Howard Society of York Region

The John Howard Society of York Region is a multi-service, non-profit, charitable organization. Reducing crime and the root causes of crime are important aspects of our organization's overall goal. Each year, thousands of people make a new start after imprisonment. Our goal is to help clients succeed at becoming law abiding and contributing citizens. We know that helping individuals find connections to their community, such as housing and stable employment, are instrumental in their successful reintegration to society. Stable employment will not only provide income, but also the opportunity to be productive, develop networks of support, and to build knowledge and self esteem. As such, we invest in increased community safety by providing meaningful reintegration support services to those being released from institutions.
