The Jean Tweed Centre is one of the largest community-based substance abuse and problem-gambling treatment facilities for women and families in Ontario. The Centre provides services to approximately 1,200 women over the age of 16 and their families each year. Services include support and stabilization, intensive day and residential programs, and outpatient services including continuing care, family and trauma counseling services. The Centre also provides outreach and on-site services to women who are pregnant and/or parenting young children under the age of six and offers onsite childcare and child-development services.

Donations go directly to support programs that improve the lives of the nearly 300,000 homeless men, women and children in Canada, including shelter and support services, life skills and job training programs, counselling services, and transitional housing programs.

The New City Institute was established in 1996-97 to replace New City magazine. Its predecessor, City magazine, founded in 1974, offered for many years the only in-depth alternative perspective on urban planning, housing, citizen participation, and sustainability issues in Canada.

The Nathaniel Dett Chorale is the premier performer of Canadian Afrocentric composers and a touchstone for the education of audiences and communities regarding the full spectrum Afrocentric choral music. The chorale aspires to position itself globally as ambassadors recognizing diversity as the foundation of life, while honouring the artistic process of music at the core of its activities. The Nathaniel Dett Chorale is Canada’s first professional choral group dedicated to performing Afrocentric music of all styles, including classical, spiritual, gospel, jazz, folk and blues. The Chorale offers its publics ways of connecting through curated experiences of Afrocentric music. The Chorale promotes awareness of and interest in Afrocentric vocal music, past, present and future, in the spirit of African-Canadian composer R. Nathaniel Dett.

The Famous 5 Foundation (F5F) is a registered non-profit charitable organization established in 1996 to ensure that the many accomplishments of those 5 women would live on in Canadian history. That model of their passionate commitment to building a more just and equitable community would be passed on to a new generation of leaders – a new generation which would recognize its own ability to rise to the challenge of leadership both in the community and in the world of business and government!

The Fauna Foundation is a privately run, government-certified, non-profit organization committed to issues of animal welfare and is currently home to 12 former biomedical laboratory chimpanzees. Adopt-a-Chimp is a fundraising program that raises money for enrichment of their lives.

ALIES has two current projects; The Back Porch, an 11th hour ministry directed to educating abortion minded men and women who come into the house seeking help, and Abortion Breast Cancer Link Billboard, which is put up once a year on a highway to help bring awareness to Albertans on the link between abortion and breast cancer.

The Temagami Community Foundation is unique in its powerful advocacy and effective support of quality-of-life initiatives in a rural northern community. Its principal ambition is to identify, sustain, and further the essential character of the community.

Access to clean energy and light creates a healthy and safe home environment, enhances opportunities for education and contributes to economic development by increasing disposable income and encouraging entrepreneurship. Working in some of the most remote and undeserved areas in the world, LUTW provides technical training and builds the capacity of local service providers to transition away from unhealthy fuels and disposable batteries for energy and light. Neighbourhood Link Support Services is a non-profit social service agency working to help people primarily in the east Toronto community to live independently and with dignity. Since 1975, with the assistance of our staff and many volunteers, we have been helping more than 20,000 people annually. In cooperation with the Toronto Central LHIN, we work with our colleague agencies across the city to integrate our many services. We continue to be the formidable cornerstone of the community and the recognized leader in the provision of community services that respond to the needs of youth, adults and seniors.
