Libraries Without Borders is an international nonprofit that expands access to information, education and cultural resources to vulnerable populations around the world. Our interventions address the structural causes of economic and human underdevelopment, reduce the digital divide, and promote cultural resilience. By focusing on the curation and customization of educational materials, along with the logistics and security involved with delivery, storage and construction of learning spaces, we have been able to develop innovative programs, create and re-envision library spaces and support librarians in over 25 countries. Most recently, we received the Library of Congress' International Literacy Award (2016) and won the Google Impact Challenge (2015). We advocate the idea of the library as a toolbox for communities to disseminate knowledge, promote social harmony, accompany the least fortunate, and ultimately, pursue human and economic development. We work in five areas of intervention: 1. EDUCATION LWB establishes libraries and information resource centers in universities and schools. This support manifests itself in the donation of materials, technical equipment, texts, and multimedia and electronic resources. LWB also provides support to teachers in their education responsibilities by putting in place educational resource centers as well as creating educational digital content. 2. INFORMATION AND CULTURE LWB supports the development of structures providing access to books, information and culture in developing countries. LWB enters into partnerships with libraries to help them develop their textual and digital resources and set up quality cultural programs. LWB also accompanies the creation of cultural projects for specific and disadvantaged groups such as visually impaired persons, prisoners and refugee populations. 3. CAPACITY BUILDING LWB initiates innovative specialized resource projects to reinforce the capacities of specific groups such as professionals from the medical or justice sectors. In facilitating access to verified and quality-controlled information, LWB accompanies their daily work in servicing their communities as well as their scientific research. 4. CONSERVATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE LWB assists in the conservation and promotion of local written or oral heritage through the creation of specialized structures (libraries, cultural centers) and the training of personnel in these professions. Within the framework of promoting local knowledge and supporting publishers in developing countries, LWB also promotes the diffusion of local literature. 5. CULTURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP LWB works alongside cultural entrepreneurs to design innovative and sustainable economic models. By setting up income-generating activities and training in management strategies, libraries are re-invented as social and cultural entrepreneurs with major economic benefits for their communities.

Emfasis is the brainchild of a team of Greek citizens living overseas who work hand in hand with social experts and volunteers, providing a humanitarian response to Greece's dire needs during one of its deepest socio-economic crisis in history. Emfasis was founded to address the holistic needs of all vulnerable and socially excluded groups in need of social, psychological , family support using the principles of Social Street Working as its main way of approach and identification of such groups. It also offers advisory support whilst devising a full care programme for each case. Emfasis Social Street Work operates on a neighborhood level, or at areas where it has been identified that there are vulnerable "pockets" of population. Emfasis applies a personal approach when assessing the essential individual requirements of the person in need - seeking fist to restitute his/her dignity, and provide adequate social, emotional and human support Emfasis supports any individual in need irrespective of age or race and is committed to: a non-judgmental approach and anti-discriminatory practices respect for discretion and confidentiality adapting constantly act effectively and efficiently without being bogged down to bureaucracy and excessive planning Emfasis is a non-profit organisation relying entirely on private and individual funding

With the goal of helping under-served communities in India, Nepal, and Tibet receive the vital services they need, Karuna-Shechen was founded in 2000 by Matthieu Ricard (www.matthieuricard.org), renown TED speaker, author, and humanitarian. We strive to reduce inequalities and work toward a fairer and more compassionate world. We trust that communities can be lifted out of poverty, that change is possible, and that the well-being of every individual, regardless of race, gender, class, or caste, is essential. We believe that building on local strengths and knowledge is the most efficient way to respond to the specific needs and aspirations of our beneficiaries. Rooted in the ideal of "compassion in action", we serve others with joy and determination by cultivating altruism in our hearts and actions. We provide vulnerable and disadvantaged populations access to health care, education and vocational training, clean water, solar electricity, and other sustainable solutions that offer options to find a livelihood and a better life. We work with a grassroots network of local partners, and give special attention to the education and empowerment of girls and women. Karuna-Shechen's name expresses its mission while paying homage to its roots: Karuna means "compassion" in Sanskrit, and Shechen is the name of a major monastery in Tibet.

We have 3 focuses: School ground greening: Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds brings teachers, students and community members together to transform barren school grounds into healthy, safe and creative outdoor learning environments Public space greening: Common Grounds connects with community organizations, local volunteers, urban and parks planners and developers to restore, design, plant and steward public open spaces The transformation of Evergreen Brick Works: Opened in 2010, Evergreen Brick Works is a community environmental centre that inspires and equips visitors to live, work and play more sustainably. Programs: Energy Literacy Platform:Student Energy is currently building the first ever highly engaging Global Energy Literacy Platform designed to create unbiased, interesting energy information. Student Icons: Student Icons is quarterly award and recognition program to highlight two amazing students through a partnership with a group of media outlets. International Student Energy Summit (ISES): In 3 events, ISES has rapidly established itself as the pre-eminent student-driven energy conference globally. ISES is an elite forum where top students from around the world learn, discuss and connect. This success was personally recognized by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in June of 2013: http://www.un.org/sg/statements/index.asp?nid=6899 Regional Summits: The Regional Summits take the purpose and passion of the ISES and implement this in a regional format. In 2014, the Regional Summits will take place in Mexico City, Aberdeen, New York, Cape Town and Shanghai.

Comprised of musicians, music industry professionals, and fans, Music for Relief is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing aid to natural disaster survivors and protecting the environment. Music for Relief was founded by the band Linkin Park in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Since inception in 2005 MFR has responded to more than 25 natural disasters across four continents including Hurricane Katrina, China's Wenchuan earthquake, a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe, earthquakes in Haiti in 2010 and Japan in 2011, and most recently the Nepal earthquakes in 2015.Recognizing the consequences of global climate change, Music for Relief expanded its focus to environmental protection and restoration in 2007. Through programs like Power the World, a collaboration with the United Nations Foundation aimed at providing sustainable energy solutions to vulnerable populations, Music for Relief is helping people, wildlife, and the environment.Rooted in the music community, Music for Relief leverages its unique position to reach artists and countless fans around the world to raise funds and awareness for humanitarian causes. We believe that through strategic collaborations we can make a greater impact and work with partners accordingly. 100% of individual contributions go directly to our programs thanks to the generous support of our founders who cover all administrative costs.

All it takes is one storm. PLAN!T NOW was formed in 2004 after Hurricane Ivan, a Category 5 storm, struck the island nation of Grenada, reducing its rain forest to shrubs, removing roofs from 90 percent of homes, and killing dozens–including children. Originally formed as the Grenada Relief Fund, we assisted in recovery projects in the country, furthering the understanding that appropriate preparedness measures can have a significant positive impact on how a community fares during a storm. Through our work we learned this important lesson: Disaster happens when preparation doesn’t. Today PLAN!T NOW advocates for the power of preparedness as we educate, engage and connect people and organizations preparing for and dealing with natural and human-made disasters. Through a range of programs and resources–including funding emergency kits and planning tools for families in need in Mexico and the U.S.–we’re working to expand our reach to make more communities safer, now and for the future.

To achieve simple treatment goals through cost effective local medicines including Herbs and Folk Home Remedies designed to cure as many patients as possible with few side effects. To provide best possible treatment to the poor and needy patients through qualified and specialist doctors. To develop a Health Education Programme designed to improve the quality of life through preventative measures. To conduct training programmes for Community Health Workers in collaboration with other community based organizations and donor agencies. To establish a Centre of Excellence for the treatment of Tuberculosis (in line with WHOs, DOT programme), Hepatitis-C and other Infectious Diseases. To provide immediate relief in case of natural disasters and calamities and also to take active part in rehabilitation of the affected population.

Embrace works to ensure that every baby, no matter where they are born, has access to lifesaving warmth and a chance to survive. Embrace Global is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to reducing neonatal mortality by ensuring that every baby—no matter where they are born—has access to life-saving warmth. Our mission is both simple and urgent: to provide innovative, portable incubators to the world’s most vulnerable newborns. Our vision is a world where no baby dies from preventable causes like hypothermia due to lack of access to basic care. Founded in 2007 by a team of Stanford students, Embrace developed a groundbreaking portable incubator designed specifically for low-resource settings, humanitarian emergencies, and conflict zones. These reusable devices require only an occasional power source to function, making them ideal for environments with unstable electricity. Unlike traditional incubators, Embrace incubators are easy to use, easy to clean, and built to withstand rugged conditions. What sets Embrace apart is our delivery model: -Our incubators are provided at no cost to trusted partners, ensuring equitable access for populations affected by poverty, displacement, or crisis. -We scale through partnerships with UN agencies, Ministries of Health, diaspora medical associations, and international NGOs such as CARE, UNICEF, and IRC. -We deploy rapidly and sustainably, working both in immediate emergency contexts and to strengthen local health systems for long-term impact. To date, Embrace has helped save over 1 million newborns across 25+ countries, including Ukraine, Syria, Gaza, Yemen, Zambia, and Armenia.

OBAT Helpers works for the welfare, support, and rehabilitation of displaced and stateless people by providing programs to alleviate the daily suffering and burdens of thousands of Urdu speaking people (known as "Biharis") who are stranded in makeshift camps in Bangladesh. OBAT Helpers implements projects in education and vocational training, self- empowerment through micro-financing, health care with clinics, drinking water, proper sewerage, and emergency relief projects. The Biharis have been stranded in Bangladesh since it achieved independence from Pakistan in 1971. Referred to as, astranded Pakistanis,a this community was supposed to be repatriated to Pakistan after the two countries separated but most of them could not due to political complications. They are presently citizens of nowhere, unclaimed by either country and marked by the UNHCR as refugees, yet deprived of the rights of refugees. They still live in the camps/slums that were supposed to serve as their temporary shelter forty years ago. This population is scattered across sixty-six camps which house around 300,000 people. Anyone visiting these camps would see a family of 7-10 people sharing a living space of 8x10 ft.; open sewers and overflowing drains; a single toilet or two for one hundred or so people; innocent six or seven year olds who should be in schools, working for a living; high-infant mortality rates due to absence of medical facilities; lack of clean drinking water; terrible or no sanitation facilities and nothing but abject poverty. OBAT Helpers is the only organization in North America which is committed to helping the Biharis to become self-reliant and empowered through proper education, health care and micro financing projects. OBAT started with providing help to one camp in 2004, and now, it is improving the lives of people in more than 30 out of the total 66 camps, after just six years. This is almost half of the total number of camps in Bangladesh.

Global One Foundation (Global One) is a non-governmental, international aid organization. Global One is recognized for its unique focus on holistic education, sustainable farming for increased food supply and food security for residents and orphans of Kibera Kenya in Africa's largest urban settlement/slum. Oneness is a term used that depicts both the basis and the goal for human beings living in one community sharing a world system. Oneness includes all living beings and is based on universal transpersonal principles and insights undergirding all the worlds Wisdom traditions. Overcoming ignorance through meditative reflection, study, and the development of compassion and virtue, for the benefit of all beings. Global One aims to provide a developmental support system for those living in extreme poverty, esp. orphans and at risk populations unable to self-direct a future. Global One Schools are fully approved by the Kenyan National Exam Council as examination sites, providing chartered Global One's work contributes to co-create generational change. Global One Schools aim to reduce mental and emotional suffering, through mindfulness and TM Meditation training and PTSD relief to help victims of political and social violence, tribal conflict, and trauma of extreme poverty. Global One Schools work with the Global Oneness Farm as recipients of its own food supply through farming crops for breakfast and lunches to all students. The Global Oneness Farm provides 1,400 meals per day. The Global One Food program is in partnership with Start Somewhere Organization, www.startsomewhere.eu who provide resources for the food program and cooking materials. Global One advocates for threatened wildlife species such as Elephants and Gorillas. Global One advocates for preserving land in Earth's Biosphere Reserves. Bridge to Türkiye Fund (BTF) was founded in 2003 by a few like-minded Turkish-Americans and friends of Türkiye with the simple desire to give back. BTF is founded on citizen-based, democratic and secular principles and encourages all to contribute to the educational welfare of less fortunate children in Türkiye. Based in the Triangle area of North Carolina, BTF grew all across the US over two decades, with many regional giving circles, and today has individual donors and supporting communities in all parts of the globe.
