Since its establishment in 1969, the Urban League of London acts as an umbrella organization for community groups in London. It is composed of representatives from neighbourhood associations and city-wide organizations. ReForest London provides matching funds, organizational support, and expertise to community groups to plant trees throughout the city of London. To date, ReForest London has planted more than 5,000 native trees and shrubs.
1 To encourage and support the goals and objectives of Presqu’ile Provincial Park and its mandate by: a. providing social, economic and physical support for the Park’s activities by raising funds to supplement and compliment Park programs; b. promoting and organizing special events compatible with the Park’s approved objectives and interpretive themes; undertaking projects and initiatives. 2 To develop programs which will further awareness, understanding and appreciation of the Park’s natural, historic and cultural resources. With a priority given to children 3 To operate sales outlet(s), develop high quality Park-specific, theme-related items and materials for distribution and/or sale to help fund programs. 4 To further the objectives of the Corporation by accepting donations, bequests and other gifts. 5 To fund 6-8 students per year to deliver educational programmes 6 To encourage a broadly based membership meeting the objectives of the corporation
In 1989 a group of area residents who shared both a passion and deep interest in Pinery Park formed the Friends of Pinery Park. Aware of the increasing pressure on the rare ecosystems within the park’s boundaries from recreational activities, they recognized the need to foster and develop an appreciation and understanding of the park’s fragile and unique environment to its ever increasing number of users.
The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada provides a lifelong home to donkeys and mules that have been neglected or abused, or that can no longer be cared for by their owners. The DSC provides a program in animal welfare education to school and community groups. In addition, the DSC has developed a Foster Farm Program wherein animals are placed in pairs on permanent loan at suitable farms. The Sanctuary Farm is open to the public on Wednesdays and Sundays, 10-4, May through October.
