Pelita Indonesia was founded in 2003 as a social organization engaged in community development projects that will increase the overall health and welfare of West Java citizens. Through our organization our vision is to empower the underprivileged people of Indonesia so that they can escape the confines of poverty and have a long healthy life, which will in turn affect the entire community. Pelita Indonesia carries out our mission stated above in three main initiatives. Provide clean water solutions, provide healthcare assistance for TB patients and participate in disaster relief efforts. We operate a factory where we produce ceramic water filters. These filters are inexpensive and produce clean and safe drinking water for Indonesians in need. We provide these filters at no cost to the recipients. Pelita indonesia's health team is focused on providing care, counseling and help to Indonesians with Tuberculosis that do not have adequate access to the healthcare they need. We work in partnership with the Indonesian government in providing this care at no cost to the patients. Pelita Indonesia also provides a variety of disaster relief help for communities and individuals affected by floods, landslides, earthquakes, and tsunamis. We are local, so we can be on the ground quickly providing essential immediate needs. We also are committed to and equipped to assist in long-term needs of the victims of disaster.

Maranatha spreads the gospel throughout the world as it builds people through the construction of urgently needed buildings. Maranatha is a non-profit, responsive organization that works in conjunction with the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide strong, dignified structures for worship and education. Around the world, there are thousands of congregations praying for a proper church to call their own while meeting in sheds or under trees. Children are going to school in dilapidated buildings, causing their quality of education to suffer. To fill this urgent need, Maranatha constructs churches and schools—facilities that later become centers of outreach for a community. History has shown that the construction of churches and schools is a catalyst for membership growth in a region. To broaden the impact of the work, Maranatha organizes short-term mission trips. Averaging about 10-14 days, these mission projects mobilize volunteers who are willing to fund their own travel and lodging for a life-changing service experience. Once there, volunteers not only work on the construction site but also organize service activities, such as medical clinics and educational programs for children. The mission experience can have a transformative effect on a volunteer. From exposure to a new culture and society to a deep spiritual growth, people return changed and ready to positively impact their own communities at home. Each year, Maranatha organizes more than two dozen Open Team Projects, which are coordinated by Maranatha staff and invites anyone to join. Additionally, Maranatha helps teams to create their own projects, called Group Projects, to build Maranatha structures. Since 1969, Maranatha has worked in nearly 90 countries around the world, including North America.

OFT actively protects farmland by working directly with landowners who have a desire to see their farms permanently protected for agriculture. We offer both landowners and community groups tools, such as farmland conservation easements, that can be used to protect individual properties of value to them. OFT also assists in raising awareness of the impacts of farmland loss, the need for greater farmland preservation and the importance of land stewardship. We provide ongoing volunteer and learning opportunities and encourage collaboration amongst diverse stakeholders, including farmers, local food groups, land use planners, health advocates and government.

We help install and monitor barrier fencing and culverts to reduce road mortality of amphibians in coastal British Columbia. We monitor how well these mitigation efforts work to improve habitat connectivity. We also help protect wetlands from habitat destruction, pollution, invasive species, and disease. We share information and promote stewardship of wetland habitats through public slideshows, workshops, school programs and by providing scientific advice to land owners and local planning departments. We highlight the connection between productive wetland habitat, water quality and human health in our presentations.

The Edmonton Community Foundation connects passionate donors to charitable organizations delivering programs and services that enhance the quality of life in the communities in which we live, learn, work and play. The Foundation invests donor contributions in perpetuity, creating legacies that positively impact our lives in the areas of the arts and culture, health and wellness, community and social services, education and learning, recreation and the environment. Grants are distributed in a way that is flexible, creative and responsive. Trees for Life demontrates that when a few dedicated people work toward one common goal, something extraordinary happens. The combination of their diverse skills unleashes a force that can move mountains. We use that force to empower people in developing countries. We focus on shifting the paradigms that create and sustain the cycle of poverty. We think very long-term—a 1,000-year perspective. Our work is to find what relatively small actions by people may result in shifting the larger paradigm. We build models aimed at sparking a grassroots, people-to-people movement.Our efforts are in the areas of education, health, and environment.

Our public service is available to visitors to our library. Our computer library catalogue has over 20,000 records and materials on regulatory reform, policy, law and legal precedents, materials from environmental organizations and advocacy groups. The focus is on Ontario and Canadian issues but increasingly includes United States and international resources as well. The range of topics is wide: air pollution, biotechnology, climate change, environmental health, environmental law, environmental politics, Great Lakes, international trade and development, land use planning, northern development, pesticides, toxic substances, waste management, water quality and quantity, wetlands, wildlife and endangered species.

At Power To Be our programs are designed to impact local lives by filling the gaps in education, health and social service sectors. We work with specially trained staff, community partners and local agencies to provide award-winning inclusive nature-based experiences. The programs are designed to inspire a sense of connection, community and the limitless discovery of what is possible. Adaptive Recreation and Wilderness School participants are living with physical, cognitive, developmental or socioeconomic barriers. Power To Be helps break down these barriers by creating access to nature-based activities including sea kayaking, surfing, climbing, snowshoeing, skiing, backpacking, yoga, hiking and multi-day adventures.

The Planet in Focus Foundation supports the charitable activities of the Planet in Focus: International Environmental Film & Video Festival. Planet in Focus screens and promotes outstanding and compelling films and videos (documentaries, dramas, experimental and animation) covering a broad range of environmental themes by Canadian and International filmmakers. We aim to promote the use of film and video as catalysts for environmental awareness, discussion, and engagement on the ecological and social health of the planet. The Festival also hosts panel discussions, workshops, a school touring program and a children's program. Planet in Focus also operates a youth environmental video production program called Youth Camera Action!

A registered charity since 1992 we advocate the move towards a more whole food, plant-based diet for environmental sustainability, better health, and compassion toward animals. We also believe communities are stronger when they set a table that people from all cultures and beliefs can enjoy. Help Earthsave Canada bring educational tools into schools and workplaces and create awareness of the effects our diet has on every living creature. For the Nations Refugee Outreach provides general educational and family services that help meet the practical needs of refugees and shares with them the gospel of Jesus Christ. We serve refugees from more than 20 countries resettled in the Dallas/Fort Worth area from ages 0-87 by emphasizing education, family services and the Christian gospel message through ESL classes, literacy, tutoring, preschool, citizenship classes, Bible studies, life skills, reading programs, field trips and seminars. We also help connect refugees to food, clothing and health care. Our vision is to bring these proven programs to more and more of the area’s large refugee population.
