THE PETERBOROUGH HUMANE SOCIETY

The Peterborough Humane Society, a registered charitable organization dependent on public donations, was established in 1941. As an Affiliated Society of the OSPCA, with the mandate to facilitate and provide for the prevention of cruelty to animals and their relief therefrom, our Humane Society offers a wide range of vital services to the community. Working in cooperation with many agencies and departments we continue promoting responsible pet ownership concepts through community outreach, one-on-one encounters with residents and the use of legal action as the last resort. Approximately 1,500 animals are received at the shelter each year, many of which are lost, injured or abandoned. While in our care they are provided with food, care, shelter and lots of love and attention. We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. The Peterborough Humane Society is grateful to our supporters, staff, and volunteers for their wonderful support and dedication.

RespectAbility USA

We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to: (1) Reshape the attitudes of society so that people with disabilities can more fully participate in and contribute to society, and (2) Empower people with disabilities to achieve as much of the American Dream as their abilities and efforts permit. RespectAbility was founded to correct and prevent the current disparity of justice for people with disabilities. We are a stronger community when we live up to our values -- when we are welcoming, diverse, moral, and respect one another. People with disabilities and their families have the same hopes and dreams as everyone else, even if they face different challenges. Together we can build a more just and inclusive community where our children, parents, grandparents, and other family and friends with and without disabilities have an equal opportunity to succeed.

African American Diabetes Association

The African American Diabetes Association (AADA) is a national tax-exempt 501c3 non-profit organization led by African Americans. We serve as a voice for Black Americans with or at risk of diabetes, addressing the alarming health disparities caused by a legacy of systemic racism. These disparities include restricted healthcare access and unethical medical practices that disproportionately harm Black communities. Building on the legacy of Negro Health Week, we're dedicated to addressing health inequities, especially the disproportionate burden of diabetes in Black communities. Existing efforts haven't closed the gap, with Black Americans experiencing diabetes rates nearly double those of non-Hispanic whites. The COVID-19 pandemic further exposed this disparity. Our vision is a future where Black communities have the resources they need to prevent and effectively manage diabetes.

Child Survival Child survival is a critical issue that requires the attention of all stakeholders in the global community. For too long, children have been dying from preventable diseases and injuries, and the impact of this loss is felt by their families and entire communities and countries. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 calls for "ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages, "focusing on child survival. We recognize that child survival is not an isolated issue but is closely linked to other key development objectives like education, gender equality, and poverty reduction. We must work together to create an enabling environment that provides the necessary support and resources to ensure the survival and well-being of all children. At Elite Star Foundation, every child deserves a chance to live a long, healthy life. That is why we are committed to using a comprehensive approach to promoting the survival and well-being of children worldwide. Our Child Survival Approach combines prevention, early intervention, and response strategies to ensure that children have the best chance of surviving and thriving. Prevention: Prevention is the best way to ensure a child's survival. We work to improve the health and well-being of children by providing health education and preventive health services. Our prevention strategies also focus on reducing poverty, increasing access to quality education, and promoting good nutrition and hygiene. Early Intervention: Early intervention is key to ensuring a child's survival. We provide rapid response services to children at risk of malnutrition, disease, or other health problems. Our early intervention services include providing nutritional supplements and access to medical care. Response: We are there to respond when a child is in crisis. We provide emergency services to children who are victims of natural disasters, conflicts, or other health crises. We provide medical care, food, clean water, shelter, and other essential services to needy children. At Elite Star Foundation, we are committed to protecting and promoting the health and well-being of children around the world. We use a comprehensive approach to ensure that every child has the best chance at survival. 3. We strive to provide a comprehensive approach to education tailored to each child's needs. Through our programs, we strive to create a safe and supportive learning environment that helps children reach their highest potential. Our approach to child education is based on a holistic view of the child as a whole person.
