The York School

The York School began as a non-profit corporation in 1965, operating several Montessori-based nursery school programmes until 1978, when it opened an elementary school in North Toronto. In 1997, York was designated an International Baccalaureate World School authorized to offer the IB Diploma in the last two years of high school. In March 2005, York became the first school in Canada - and the fourth in North America - accredited to offer a continuous, integrated programme from JK to university entrance. From the Early Years Programme (JK-SK) to Grade 12, our programme emphasizes development of research, problem solving and time-management skills within the context of the IB curriculum.

The Music Gallery

The Music Gallery (est. 1976) is a Toronto presenter and venue devoted entirely to the presentation of leading-edge contemporary music in all genres. We present approximately 50 concerts each year. We are the premier Canadian stage amongst an international network of concert halls committed to the promotion of the composers of our time, and the furtherance of creative art music. Responsible for offering Toronto audiences compelling and intelligent concerts, we continuously research and uncover the most daring and original musical artists, most of whose work fit no other forum. Boasting an Artistic Advisory Committee of international scope, the Music Gallery is widely regarded as the place in Canada where the latest developments in art music are unveiled. Our concerts take place in the acoustic splendour of St. George the Martyr Church situated on the cusp of Grange Park in the heart of Queen Street West.

The Teesside Charity

The Teesside Charity was established in March 2011 to provide social and economic opportunities that would not otherwise have existed in the area. Formerly the Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, the charity's key function is to financially support community groups and charities based within Teesside, which promote social wellbeing and provide support to those who find themselves at a disadvantage in the society they live in. These include but are not exclusively the homeless, those recovering from an addiction, the long-term unemployed, those living in poverty or living with a disability and employment schemes. The Teesside Charity helps those on the margins of society be involved in society and not excluded from opportunities. Teesside is a deprived area of the UK. It has higher crime rates, more pupils eligible for free school meals and higher unemployment than the national average. However, it also has great resilience and motivation to excel in areas.

The Failte Centre

The Failte Centre takes its name from "Failte," the Irish word for "welcome." Failte (pronounced FAHL-chuh) emphasises our core approach: we welcome all individuals regardless of age, gender, background, nationality, political orientation or religion. Our mission at The Failte Centre is to provide both individualised learning opportunities as well as mental health & psychosocial support (MHPSS) services in a welcoming and caring environment. We refer to those that come to Failte as individuals, rather than beneficiaries or vulnerable people. This philosophy is reflected in how we treat every person that comes through our door: as individuals who deserve dignified, tailored responses to their specific concerns and needs. Furthermore, the values of empathy, respect and inclusivity are incorporated into the services we provide at Failte.
