Our organization is first and so far the one and only nationwide with main goal to support women with endometriosis and reproductive problems. Our mission is to increase disease recognition, provide endometriosis education programs and advocacy, build an effective specialist network to support women, and create a voice for a holistic approach towards endometriosis. We are engaged in campaigns to inform both medical community and the public and we place particular emphasis on the critical importance of early diagnosis and effective intervention, as main preservation goals for reproductive health.
In Ottawa, 38,000 Aboriginal people make up less than 5% of the population, but 30% of our homeless. Rates of poverty, suicide, addiction, incarceration and high school drop-out are anywhere from double to ten times as likely to occur among Aboriginal people compared to the general population. Wabano is reversing these trends, with over 10,000 Aboriginal people using our programs and services each year.
