The LSSU Foundation was established in 1983 to provide support for the Board of Trustees of Lake Superior State University; to assist in an exclusively educational and charitable manner in the accomplishment of its educational purposes; and to augment the facilities thereof in such manner as may be designated, directed, or desired by the University.

The mission of the Beaufort County Community College Foundation is to provide broad-based community support for the college in achieving its educational goals. The Foundation seeks to achieve this through the solicitation of private gifts of money, property, and services and by the management of such assets to enhance the educational programs and services offered by the College.The College serves 2,008 square miles in its 4-county service area (Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, Washington). Students have come from 96 of 100 NC counties. BCCC ranks #1 in the NE region of the state for impact on the salaries of students who attend a community college. Students in career and technical areas can expect an average gain of 40%. Statewide, it ranks 2nd with an average annual increase of over $9,000.
