WESTERN COUNTIES REGIONAL LIBRARY CHARITABLE ASSOCIATION

The Western Counties Regional Library is a regional public library with 10 branches serving the counties of Digby, Shelburne and Yarmouth in southwestern Nova Scotia. Established in June 1969, the library has its headquarters at 405 Main Street in the Town of Yarmouth, the largest population centre of the three counties. The Western Counties Regional Library began with five staff in 1969 and has grown to 60 full- and part-time employees. Over the years, services were added such as bookmobiles (which were replaced by Library Express), visits to hospitals, seniors residences and schools and Library Express. All of the library branches offer free computer and wireless Internet access.

Our facility also houses the OMNIMAX® Theatre, which features one of the largest dome screens in the world. Wintergreen is a year-round environmentally friendly facility, located on 204 acres of mixed forests, meadows, and granite outcrops in the heart of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. The reserve is one of a global network of UNESCO designated reserves - natural regions with unique geographic features, populated with people committed to sustainable community development. The Wintergreen facilities are used for workshops in the arts, and are also available for groups seeking a private retreat for small meetings. Our facilities serve as a demonstration and research site for off-grid living on the land that is part of the ancient granite spine of North America. Wintergreen Studios offers a unique setting to enhance self-awareness, relationship and community building, creative thinking, visioning, and wellness.

CANADIAN LEAGUE AGAINST EPILEPSY

The Canadian League Against Epilepsy is an organization of medical and basic sciences professionals counting more than 125 members, including physicians, basic scientists, nurses, neuropsychologists, neuroradiologists, students and other health professionals. Our members are all keen to take advantage of their passions and their knowledge in their respective fields to better respond to various basic needs of the epileptic population, present and future. We also work in collaboration with several organizations such as the Canadian Epilepsy Alliance, the American Epilepsy Society and the North American Commission for Epilepsy. We meet at the time of the Canadian Congress of Neurological Sciences and every other year at the Canadian League Against Epilepsy meeting. The league members are also in contact on an ongoing basis through our website in order to provide information and exchange views on various topics of current interest on epilepsy.
