Working with our community partners we; Promote and facilitate in-depth knowledge and career connections for Ontario youth. Help students gain important skills on the job with working with or learning from actual employers. Gain workplace experience that enable students to refine, extend and practice sector-specific knowledge and skills to enable them to be workplace ready benefiting both the student and the employer and ultimately the Ontario economy.
Leadership Edmonton continues to serve as a growing, permanent community asset, built and guided by volunteers and financial supporters alike. Leadership Edmonton's founding members are The Edmonton Community Foundation, Enbride Pipelines Inc. MacEwan, and the United Way of Alberta and Capital Region. A unique leadership development program that brings together current and emerging leaders from all sectors of our community and creates opportunities for them to expand their leadership potential. Program participants explore leadership as it relates to leading edge human, social and cultural development in Edmonton-and the rest of the world. They learn how to connect local communities and initiatives to the global context and the human situation. In doing so, they become better prepared to meet the challenges of their own personal leadership journey, and to make significant contributions in the various communities they serve.
Parents as Teachers (PAT) works with parents to provide them with support and information on their developing child and to foster stong, nurturing relationships. Through regular personal home visits, parent group meetings, developmental screenings and connection to community resources the program: - increases parent knowledge of early childhood development and improves parenting practices - provides early detection of developmental delays and health issues - increases children's school readiness and school success - prevents child abuse and neglect The core values of the PAT model are that: - parents are their children's first and most influential teachers - the early years of a child's life are critical for optimal development and provide the foundation for success in school and life - research should be the foundation of parent education and family support services - an understanding and appreciation of the history and traditions of diverse cultures is essential
Bouge de là is one of the rare professional dance companies in Canada that is dedicated entirely to young audiences. Founded in 2000 under the artistic direction of Hélène Langevin, Bouge de là presents contemporary dance performances that draw upon a variety of disciplines: video, theatre, shadow play, etc. The company’s varied and playful creations appeal to children’s curiosity and usher them into a world of emotions that stimulate the imagination. Wanting to share the pleasures of movement with young people, the company has also developed an educational program that is directly connected to its shows for young audiences. The company’s repertoire comprises five creations: La Tribu Hurluberlu(2000), Like the 5 Fingers on your Hand (2003), SSHH!!(2006), Old Thomas and the Little Fairy (2008)and The Studio(2010).
Be the Change Earth Alliance is a Canadian charitable organization that brings sustainability education programs to schools and communities to create environmental and social change. Our programs empower people of all ages to connect, understand and actively respond to the sustainability challenges facing our planet. Your donations will be supporting STUDENT LEADERSHIP IN SUSTAINABILITY, an innovative program that provides teachers and students with a groundbreaking educational curriculum for environmental sustainability, global citizenship, and youth empowerment. Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC) is a not-for-profit, multi-service organization that provides services to children and families of Milton and the surrounding communities. Through our Ontario Early Years Centre and our Family Resource programs we provide early learning programs for children, their parents and caregivers at minimal or no cost to participants. MCRC's parent resource library offers a variety of resources and workshops including access to our parent educators. Through our Licensed Child Care programs, MCRC provides quality early learning and care at an affordable cost and subsidy is available for eligible families. Collaboratively with Halton Region Children Services, MCRC operates The Halton Resource Connection, which provides training, support and resources to parents, caregivers, individuals and organizations working with children and youth.
Core Programs - Chinese Learning Academy Offers accredited, basic training (ECS to grade 12) in mastering the skills in Mandarin Chinese language. - Chinese Library Has had about five thousand members since its inception in 1992 and contains seventy thousand items of books and videos. - Educational.Cultural.Recreational Courses A home to a number of educational, artistic, cultural and recreational programs as well as summer camps. - Chinese Artifacts Museum The Museum displays a diverse collection of objects reflecting the history and culture that goes back more than five thousand years and offers guided tours of the Centre, the Museum and Chinatown as well as customized cultural programs. - Facilities Rental Open for public renting, the facilities features a 6,000 sq.ft. multi- purpose auditorium with performing stage, a unique cultural hall, Wi-Fi connections, meeting space in various formats.

Quilt of Belonging,one of Canada's most powerful and comprehensive art projects, shows that there is "A Place for All" in the fabric of society. This 120 foot long textile mosaic is a richly hued portrait of the human family. Its 263 blocks portray the rich cultural legacies of all the First Peoples in Canada and every nation of the world. The astonishing range of materials and their stories connect the threads of our past to the limitless possibilities of our future. Over 1 million visitors have seen the Quilt in exhibitions across Canada and the United States. It was recently featured at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and the G20 Summit in Toronto. Our books, and website, popular with people of all ages and from all walks of life, have created an impact around the world. The Quilt project offers the world hope and a vision of how people can live together in harmony.
The Community Foundation of Nova Scotia is a public charitable foundation created by and for the people of Nova Scotia. We engage in three core activities: * we establish and maintain endowment funds on behalf of private donors, businesses, charities, and communities which, in turn, support registered charities and other eligible recipients within the province of NS; * we engage in strategic grant-making; and * we provide leadership with respect to a broad range of community issues, connecting people who care with causes that matter.
