November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Help us spread our message of diabetes management and prevention. The Canadian Diabetes Association works in communities across the country to promote the health of Canadians and eliminate diabetes through our strong nationwide network of volunteers, employees, healthcare professionals, researchers, partners and supporters. In the struggle against this global epidemic, our expertise is recognized around the world.

Formed in 1987, this registered society provides physical, psychological and social benefits to all physically, mentally and emotionally challenged children and adults. All riders undergo a screening by the appropriate medical professional(s) prior to starting in the program. We have 8 different programs taught by counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers and instructors (who are certified through Equine Canada or the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association). Horses are chosen carefully for their patience and kindness. New volunteers are always welcome and they are trained to help out the riders. Today, with the help of over 135 volunteers, we have become the largest therapeutic riding program in British Columbia, with 130 clients attending per week.

CMCC is a fully accredited academic institution recognized as one of the most rigorous and innovative chiropractic programs in North America. The Toronto based campus features modern teaching and laboratory space, the largest English language chiropractic library in Canada, and a network of community based clinics serving a diverse patient base with more than 74,000 patient visits each year. Founded in 1945, CMCC is a not for profit charitable organization. CMCC receives no direct government funding and relies on tuition, membership and community / alumni donations to fund its operations. Your contribution to CMCC will help us create leaders in spinal health and support research aimed at advancing the understanding and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, a leading cause of long-term disability. Improved care for these disorders can relieve the strain on health care systems around the world by helping millions of patients regain the ability to lead healthy, active lives.

Rayjon Share Care Sarnia is a Canadian Registered Chairity, and a primarily volunteer driven organization with very low administrative costs. Rayjon leads awareness trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic to educate participants about life in a developing country, both good and bad; supports a program of collecting and issuing prescription eye glasses in developing countries and supports community development projects in Haiti and Dominican Republic. In St. Marc, education is provided through one high school and 2 elementary schools, health care through two clinics, and a strong women's micro-finance program. In Cap Haitian the Sacred Heart Centre offers nutrition to children between 9 and 59 months to return them to normal weight and health, and a thriving graduated microcredit program for parents who receive life skills training as well as basic literacy and numeracy skills, along with a small loan, to empower them to earn money to support their families.

B.C. 4-H - Developing Leaders and Strengthening Communities - Since 1914 - The 4-H program provides young people with an opportunity to learn how to become productive, self-assured adults who can make their community and country a better place in which to live. This is fostered through project and program work, experiences with their 4-H club members and leaders and their participation in district, regional and provincial programs. The goal of the 4-H program is youth development. The objectives of 4-H clubs are knowledge, leadership, citizenship and personal development. The 4-H motto is "Learn to Do by Doing" 4-H stands for HEAD, HEART, HANDS AND HEALTH. The 4-H pledge describes the significance of the four H's: I pledge: My HEAD to clearer thinking My HEART to greater loyalty My HANDS to larger service, My HEALTH to better living, For my Club, my Community and My Country

AMISTAD CANADA currently works with four Mexican non-profits: With CASA, a centre for family and reproductive health, we have three projects: - We fund a Clinical Coordinator in CASA's School of Professional Midwifery and provide equipment for the School and Maternity Hospital. - Donations for the annual San Miguel Walk support projects in CASA’s Domestic Violence Prevention Program. - We fund the establishment of libraries in pre- and primary-schools in rural communities and thereby enhance early childhood education With FEED THE HUNGRY we provide nutritional health education services to the families of children participating in FTH’s school meals programs. With LA BIBLIOTECA DE SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, we have a Canadian Education Project, which provides scholarships, free classes and books for young Mexican students. With JOVENES ADELANTE we provide scholarships, computers and other services to qualified San Miguel de Allende students for their university career.

VAST workshops and clinics are offered to communities that rarely see veterinary or animal husbandry services. We train local animal health workers in food animal care, disease prevention and treatment, and biosecurity. The goal is to recognise key diseases in livestock before they become fatal, as well as give locals the opportunity to have their animals health checked. A secondary goal is to deliver needed veterinary medicines and supplies to communities. Our next visit is to Haiti. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, with some of the highest infant mortality, illiteracy and infectious disease rates found globally. Since the earthquake in 2010, a cholera epidemic has also impacted the population, compromising their ability to rebuild. As more than 80% of the population survives on less than $2 US/day, farmers are unable to pay for proper animal care. Unfortunately for most rural Haitians, their family's wealth and security are tied up in the few animals they own.

Making A Difference The first six years are the most important years in your child's life. In the early years, the brain forms connections that set the stage for lifelong learning, behaviour and health. By age six, children have a solid foundation for reaching their full potential in the years ahead. Parents and caregivers have the greatest impact on how a child grows and develops in the the early years. You can make the difference!

Food for the Hungry is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to ending poverty - one community at a time. With partners like you, FH walks alongside the most vulnerable communities throughout the developing world as they strive toward sustainability. Recognizing that each community faces unique challenges as well as advantages, FH is committed to an integrated, holistic approach to development including priorities such as agriculture, education, health, and gender equality.

Newpark is a non-profit child care facility, offering high quality early education and child care since 1986. Newpark attained Charitable Status in 1992. Newpark is licensed under the Day Nurseries Act of Ontario and meets all local and provincial fire, health and safety regulations. Newpark is operated by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors determines the policies, budget, and fees for the Centre. Parents are welcome to join the Board of Directors.

We promote research relevant to aging with a focus on practice-relevant research as a driving force behind innovation and quality care. Through partnerships with the University of Waterloo and Conestoga College, we attract research projects to "living research environments" within long term care and retirement communities as well as community settings. We facilitate the transfer of research to practice by developing research-informed programs for seniors' care and seniors' health.

Weston Frontlines Centre, known as Frontlines, offers after-school programs and summer day camp to the children and youth of the Weston community, located in the north-west corner of Toronto. At Frontlines, we strive to serve the whole child - physically, mentally, socially and spiritually - in a neighbourhood that is under-served and designated one of the City's priority areas. We provide a friendly environment where people feel cared for and safe - a place where children and youth are encouraged to choose a healthy lifestyle and constructive alternatives to further their growth and development. Our theme is "bringing people together" because we believe that for our children and youth to excel, the entire community - parents, businesses, officials, other social organizations - need to be involved and engaged in their development.
