The Bras d’Or Preservation Nature Trust partners with private landowners, organizations and communities to conserve and protect ecologically important habitat through land donation, purchase, and conservation easements. It was the first “designated conservation organization” under the then newly enacted Nova Scotia Conservation Easements Act in 1993. The Bras d’Or Preservation Nature Trust is a registered charity with the Canadian Revenue Agency, able to issue tax deductible receipts for donations and gifts. The organization is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. The Bras d'Or Preservation Nature Trust also sponsors the Bras d'Or Lakes and Watershed Interpretive Centre in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, as part of its mission to increase public awareness of the ecology of the Bras d'Or and the need for conservation within the watershed.
Because democracies rely upon a well-educated citizenry, CCLET’s mission is to engage Canadians in developing the habits they need to participate in the democratic process. Among the outreach programmes of the Canadian Civil Liberties Trust are Civil Liberties in the Schools and Teaching Civil Liberties. These programs focus on getting students to ask critical questions about their rights and freedoms. By shining the light of inquiry on unfairness, we begin the process of change. Through CCLET guest speakers, conferences, and workshops for schools and community organizations, participants are engaged in lively discussions about their rights and freedoms and the important legal and civil liberties issues created by a pluralistic society. Particular emphasis is on providing programmes for student teachers, and high school law and social studies students.
The Cash Drive is the engine of all the wonderful programs we have at John Ross Robertson such as Scientist in the School, Learning Through The Arts and Artist in the Classroom. These all run on your financial support, this funding pays for school supplies and programs the Toronto District School Board no longer provides.

Young people are an integral part of the dairy industry. They need to be recognized, inspired, and challenged to make the decisions that will affect their future. Each new generation inherits a responsibility for its own culture, history and heritage. The Trustees of the Fund are committed to the development of programs and events that educate, encourage and assist the young people who are the future of our industry.
While primary education is “free” in Kenya, secondary school is NOT; therefore, most students living in Mathare Slum cannot afford to go to high school. Once out of school, many of these children are forced to contribute to their family’s income; very often, out of desperation and in order to survive, they become victims of early marriage, child labour, crime, prostitution, drug and alcohol abuse and trafficking. Members of the Mathare community agree that the only way to stop this destructive cycle is by giving these kids a chance to go to a secondary boarding school, outside of Nairobi, in an environment more conducive to learning and away from the dangers of the slum. Prospective scholarship recipients are students living in Mathare who have attended private, government, or non-formal primary school in the slum and who have completed Standard 8 with the minimum required score for high school in their final exams, they are selected by our Kenyan partners working there.
Infrastructure projects will be chosen from applications received from East African communities and monitored by a committee of volunteer CanAssist trustees. Communities will be invited to submit application for funding based on their needs and be responsible for regular reporting during and on completion of the adopted project. Our work supports all members of a community rather than focusing on individuals or programmes. ( i.e. We build classrooms rather than giving school fees for a selected child. We provide clinic equipment, not funds for salaries or programmes at a hospital.)
