HIPPY is an international programme, operating in 8 countries around the world. HIPPY started in Israel in 1968 and is well supported by research. HIPPY Oakville sends Home Visitors to the homes of vulnerable families to teach a 30 week curriculum of pre-reading, pre-math and pre-writing skills to 3,4 and 5 year old children. HIPPY helps three constituents: The Home Visitors are entry level workers who are trained and given 100 hours of education per year. After 2 - 3 years they are supported to find higher level work. The Mothers by being recognized as their children's first and best teacher develop their skills and self-esteem. They also foster their relationships with their children. Their children complete a carefully constructed curriculum and arrive at school, confident and ready to learn.

Elimu is an international development organization based in Ottawa, Canada. We began undertaking projects in Kenya in 2006 as private individuals. Elimu was incorporated in January 2011 and received official charitable status from the Canadian government in March 2012. We are a board of directors of three Canadians. We also have a dynamic board of advisors and a volunteer administrator in Ottawa. The “office” of Elimu is a virtual set up run between Ottawa, Canada and Malindi, Kenya. For this reason there is currently only a P.O. Box address. Our Founder covers the overhead costs of the Canadian organization so that our donors' dollars go straight into projects. Our projects include a small home for children, building a nursery school for a village community and supporting young women to gain income-generating skills.

The Population Council is dedicated to improving the reproductive health and well-being of the most vulnerable individuals in developing countries. Council researchers focus their efforts on three programs: HIV and AIDS; Poverty, Gender, and Youth; and Reproductive Health. Researchers draw on the multidisciplinary knowledge of colleagues from their own program as well as the other two programs to think broadly in developing, implementing, and testing programs that can help improve people's lives. The Council has a network of offices in 18 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and over 500 staff members who hail from 33 countries. An international board of 15 individuals from 6 countries governs the organization. Council headquarters and biomedical laboratories are located in New York. The Council also has an office in Washington DC.

We work together with other Hope Story organizations in a multinational context to rescue orphaned and unprotected children and place them in safe, family-style homes where they can thrive in an atmosphere of acceptance, holistic care, and Christian love. In many places we also build schools and develop relevant community impact programs including outreach centers, medical clinics, care centers and our “Keeping Families Together” initiatives. In Canada, Hope Story is a gathering point for men, women and children who dream of long-term sustainable change in the life of another person as a practical, meaningful expression of the heart of God. The Canadian League Against Epilepsy is an organization of medical and basic sciences professionals counting more than 125 members, including physicians, basic scientists, nurses, neuropsychologists, neuroradiologists, students and other health professionals. Our members are all keen to take advantage of their passions and their knowledge in their respective fields to better respond to various basic needs of the epileptic population, present and future. We also work in collaboration with several organizations such as the Canadian Epilepsy Alliance, the American Epilepsy Society and the North American Commission for Epilepsy. We meet at the time of the Canadian Congress of Neurological Sciences and every other year at the Canadian League Against Epilepsy meeting. The league members are also in contact on an ongoing basis through our website in order to provide information and exchange views on various topics of current interest on epilepsy.

THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION OF OTTAWA is a registered non-profit charity that raises private funds to help students in need and at risk of school failure, attending schools in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Children cannot learn if their basic needs are not met. Children come to school hungry every day. Many of our students face life challenges that place them at risk of school failure. Over 25% of Ottawa's children are living in poverty. We provide funding in emergency situations, for food and clothing, or medication, when a family is in financial crisis. The Foundation is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of business, education and community leaders, and chaired by Mr. Jim Orban, Publisher of the Ottawa Citizen. Inter Pares is a Canadian organization dedicated to promoting international social justice. In Canada and overseas it works to build understanding about the causes and effects of poverty and injustice, and the need for social change. Inter Pares accompanies communities in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Canada to create sustainable livelihoods and healthy futures, including humanitarian assistance and human rights protection for people caught up in civil violence. It supports people’s struggles for self-determination and their efforts to challenge structural obstacles to change, accompanying people in their efforts to hold their governments accountable and to promote democratic social and economic policies. Through advocacy and coalition-building, Inter Pares also links social action at home with social change work abroad, promoting relationships of mutual support among activists around the globe. The Literacy Council of Durham Region is a charitable, non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to increasing literacy in the Durham Region. Guided by the principle of Each One, Teach One, volunteer tutors and staff members identify individual learner needs and design learning activities to help meet goals related to independence, employment or further education/training. The Literacy Council has been in operation since 1980 and provides an essential service within the region, with a recent International Adult Literacy Survey indicating that 1 out of 5 adults in the Durham Region need help with reading and writing. Since 2005 the Council has worked with over 420 learners and delivered 16,409 hours of direct literacy instruction. Rockway Mennonite Collegiate is located in Kitchener, Ontario in Waterloo Region, just one hour west of Toronto. Founded in 1945, our school currently serves a diverse population of 280+ students in grades 7-12. Rockway maintains a strong and supportive relationship with congregations in Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, a conference of 90 Mennonite congregations. About 40% of our students come from Mennonite congregations, while the balance represent a diversity of Christian denominations as well as other faiths. Our student body includes more than 50 international students from eight different countries. As an inspected and accredited private school, Rockway's teachers are certified by the Ontario College of Teachers and use the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum to offer a challenging and supportive environment for learning. Over 90% of Rockway's graduates are accepted into post-secondary programs of choice in university and college.

The Vancouver Chamber Choir is one of Canada’s national treasures, an outstanding professional vocal ensemble noted for its diverse repertoire and performing excellence. The Choir has been performing to audiences at home in Vancouver and on tour across Canada since it was formed in 1971 by conductor Jon Washburn. International excursions have taken the Vancouver Chamber Choir to the USA, Mexico, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Finland, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine. Honoured with the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence by Chorus America, the Vancouver Chamber Choir has to its credit countless performances, 30 recordings, hundreds of radio broadcasts and numerous awards. Recognized by the Canadian League of Composers as foremost supporters of Canadian music, Jon Washburn and the Choir have commissioned and premiered nearly 250 Canadian choral compositions.

The Burns Bog Conservation Society was established in 1988 by a concerned group of citizens. They, along with other members of the community, successfully stopped a major development. The founders realized they had won the battle but not the war to protect Burns Bog. The Society has a credible reputation as the voice of Burns Bog and is committed to educating people of the ecological and economic benefits of Burns Bog and other peatlands globally and how they affect our quality of life. Burns Bog is the only estuarine raised peat bog found in a Mediterranean climate. It is located in Delta, British Columbia. The Society conducts field trips, public tours, holds summer day camps, produces educational material. It hosts special events such as International Bog Day and Jog for the Bog. The Society builds and maintains the boardwalks in the Delta Nature Reserve. The Society receives no funding from the United Way, the Corporation of Delta or Metro Vancouver.
